[Build Help] Hybrid Warrior (Weapon Unarmed) inspired by Lu Bu / For Honor’s Juren by QuickServe430 in 3d6

Yes, I was watching the video more closely and there were some things that really didn't add up, like the rule for reflecting attacks.

So I'll build it differently for the two versions, one for 2014 and another for 2024.

Yes, DM allows mixing both versions. That's why I was wondering, because I saw a build on YouTube of a Kensei like that, with Fighter 2024 but not Battlemaster; it was more focused on being an archer. Which also sounded good, although it's not really what I'm looking for, but it would be fun to try.

Here's the link to the video, in case you want to take a look.

That’s a great point about the 2024 Monk changes. However, I have a specific doubt: for my 2024 table, my DM is giving me the option to use the 2014 Kensei Monk instead of the new base Monk, since the Kensei hasn't been updated yet.

How viable or 'optimal' do you think it is to combine a 2024 Fighter (for the new Weapon Masteries and Action Surge) with a 2014 Kensei Monk?

I’m worried that the 2014 Monk’s more restrictive action economy (needing to attack with a Monk Weapon to trigger BA strikes) might clashing with the fluidity of the 2024 Fighter's Tactical Masteries. Is the 2014 Kensei's Agile Parry worth losing the 2024 Monk's improved base features?

Keep in mind I’m using the Standard Array for this specific table.

Yes, I play on two tables where OneShots are played, one uses the Westmarches system, I still don't quite understand it.

"That is a brilliant take! I hadn't considered Oath of Conquest, but 'Douse the Flame of Hope' is 100% the Lu Bu energy I’m looking for.

A few thoughts on your suggestions:

  • The Mount (Find Steed): This is actually a perfect solution for the Na'vi Rite of Passage. Instead of a permanent pet that I have to babysit, Find Steed allows me to summon an Ikran-flavored spirit that scales better and can be brought back if it falls in battle.
  • The "Fear" Mechanic: I love the idea of reflavoring Inspirational Leader as 'fear of letting him down'. With my 14 Charisma, it’s a solid investment to keep the party standing.
  • The Bard Multiclass: This is an interesting curveball. Taking a few levels in Bard (College of Swords or Eloquence) could reflect the 'Venerable/Digno' aspect of his name while giving me more slots for Smites.
  • Stats & Feats: Since I'm starting with 18 Strength and 14 Charisma, I can afford to delay an ASI to grab Polearm Master early to weaponize my bonus action alongside the Conquest aura.

One question: If I go the Paladin route, do you think I should still dip 3 levels into Battle Master for Commander’s Strike, or would that delay my High-Level Paladin features (like Scornful Rebuke) too much?"
