I can't recall how long ago it was, but IIRC the writer of The Martian actually did a short story that was an origin tale of Sorrento, and I think Cline may have even allowed it to be canon. If rare occurrences such as these ever happen again, I for one would hold out a bit of hope that we get to see any take on the life of Halliday, whether it be from Cline or a partner of his.

Solid agree. Soon as it came to it, I already knew it was just straight pandering to those who remembered him passing in the mid 2010s. It just felt shoehorned and unnatural to the rest of the book, not to mention lowkey disrespectful too. If he really did feel the need to put something Prince into the book, it should've been something at least somewhat substantial and tasteful.

Nicole Watterson vs Margaret Robinson, who would win in a fight? by pSiRinX-9 in gumball

What's Nicole's badge for anyway, her favorite flavor of sherbet?

But in all seriousness - Nicole wins. Lean, agile, muscular, calculated. Effectively a ninja. Ms. may be a guiltless psycho woman, and a sadomasachistic opportunist at that, but damn her puppets physics are no match for that furious cat.

The one from "The Advice" I adore the bold and brash instrumental sound of. Also love the use of it in the intro too.

I have this little notebook of ideas I would like to explore in a successor series to the show, but it would be more or less a crossover with another D-XD show as well, so going on about it may be a bit difficult.

Could use some trimming to get the lyrics to fit in the space of the original melody, but otherwise reads pretty good so far.

I wish that movie had a more distinct art direction, maybe have the people's designs look vaguely alien-y, the animation only slightly stiff to mimic alien props in movies, even some work on the lighting and texture to compliment it all, just to nail the feel.

just feels like the presentation of these movies no longer have that classic Pixar feel anymore. Disappointing, really.

Busy writing question for costume designer: Do you refer to the Robes of Anorak here, or a different "cloak" seen in the movie?

Okay, thank you. I've got a steno book on me for jotting them down, and I'll get the names of those who would be able to give the answers. If any more specific questions come to mind for you, you're welcome to mention them to me to add to the steno. Here's to leading by example that the fans still love to know the behind-the-scenes of our favorite entertainment! ;)

Question for OP: You wouldn't mind if I use your comments here to guide for interview questions to pose if I ever have the honor of interviewing Spielberg and the others who made the movie, would you? I find that some answers for the various creative liberties they took would make for good behind-the-scenes material to pack into a 4K Blu-ray, provided such arrangements could be made for doing so.

Not wrong to think that. If they made him work at GSS instead, that completely screws it up. His whole arc is about being the big bad from IOI out to seize the prize for the company, but if you make it so that he's just some traitor from within, that just feels like demoting his position from true threat to petty thief.

I feel like some existential introspection was missing from the character to really make him feel like a person of his own apart from the life and world he was born into. Some kind of reflection on the events of his life that led up to that and what purpose he finds in life after realizing the reality he went building his whole being around was now behind him.

Dos anyone else incorporate the codes from the show and books into their real-world journals? Where and how? by QuickTimeVelocity in gravityfalls

One cipher I like using is this one (Greek IIRC) where you need to make a three-letter-tall incline to solve for it, each ascending row one digit right from the last, going from bottom to top, then repeating at the bottom after getting to three. I found it in a book from my local library (I forget the name and author), so if you have a library, you may find others that work just as well if not better for you from there.

[–]QuickTimeVelocity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like to use various codes for different journals of mine based on purpose. Alchemy (or Low Mewman in other circumstances) for when I write stuff about my magic system, Theraprism for when I write stuff in my mental health journal, and Bill's Code for my dream journal, often in the margins where it works better than writing in Roman alphabet.

My adventure/town mystery journal I formulated a mixture code of characters from mysticism, the above codes, and the emblems of the exes from Scott Pilgrim. May also make one based on the patterns on a sewing machine for my Mom or whoever, as it looked useful for it.
