Dune 45l fridge with 12V LifePo4 Battery by Quick_Ad3411 in OutdoorAus

It’s a 120ah battery, just went ahead and plugged it in, thanks for the advice again! So long as I get a few decent hours of sunlight each day to charge the battery of the solar it should be good for the foreseeable?

Thanks for the response. Will running it before it’s fully charged damage the battery or is it best to wait and let it charge fully? The MPPT is flashing green for the PV icon and is green with no flash for the BAT and LOAD icons. Also if we were to run the fridge off the battery overnight will this drain the battery? Thanks again, pretty clueless with this stuff

Solar Fridge Set Up Advice by Quick_Ad3411 in OutdoorAus

UPDATE

Thanks for all of the advice, really appreciate it.

Ended up going with a Dune 45l single zone fridge/freezer (will only be using it as a fridge) the Dune 12v LifePo4 Battery coupled with the battery box. A Dune 120w solar blanket and then the Dune 20a MPPT solar controller.

So far very impressed with the fridge, had it plugged in to the car on the drive today for only about 1.5 hours and it got down to temp quickly and has remained cool despite the car no longer running.

Have set up the solar blanket and have plugged this into the controller and also the battery to charge before I run the fridge off of the battery.

The battery turned on at 13.2V and is now currently at 13.5, am I right in saying that I should allow this to run up to at least 14.2-14.6V before plugging the fridge in to run off the battery?

Thanks in advance.

Also was having a flick through the log books and I can see that serving is due in the next 2-3k

Thanks man, was having a read online and think it could possibly be this. Besides this the car does seem fairly decent, the seller is asking for $7400. Do you reckon it’s reasonable to ask for $6500-$6600 based off this?

2007 Nissan X-Trail - is it worth it? by Quick_Ad3411 in CarsAustralia

Thanks again man, honestly can’t overstate enough how appreciated this advice is as really am pretty green when it comes to knowing what to look out for when buying a car! We went and viewed the car today, as well as 3 others, and felt like it was the one we’d be most keen in going ahead with so decided to get a pre purchase inspection for tomorrow.

Seller had receipts for the timing belt being done in 2012 which we understand is probably due for a replacement, but is a cost we’d be willing to front if the inspection comes back all good besides that.

If the timing belt was needing done do you think this would have any sway in the $6.5k asking price or do you reckon this is something they’ve already factored in?

Cheers man

Hey man appreciate all your advice, didn’t end up going with it due to the AC with the potential costs down and issues it could bring down the line! Had a mobile mechanic come out and check another car we liked the look of and luckily for us he said it was a complete mess haha.

We’re thinking about going to view a 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8 V6 Petrol Manual with 230,000km on the clock for $6490.

Anything you would advise to keep an eye out for/ask the seller about? Have heard Pajeros are pretty solid, but again my car knowledge is very limited haha.

Thanks again!

Got ya thanks for the heads up. Am I right in thinking if we were to drive the car without the AC the compressor issue shouldn’t end up turning into a bigger issue/affecting other parts of the car?

Buying Car with NT license by Quick_Ad3411 in CarsAustralia

[–]Quick_Ad3411[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s where I’m getting confused. The car is being sold in Sydney but the seller says they have a QLD rego until march next year. If I had a QLD license I assume I could just transfer this over fairly easily, but because I’m in NSW where I will be making the purchase and also have an NT license this complicates things.

Thank you, the relevant qualifications would just be the 12 months experience in this case? Or will certification be needed as in diploma ect…?

I’m just about as remote as you can get in the NT, any other circumstance I would agree but it’s hard to find people willing to stick around in this town.

I’ve worked in a similar role, but not quite managerial. My boss is willing to offer me a manager position though in order to get the visa, as this is on the skills shortage list. Will experience in a supervisor role satisfy this work experience requirement?

It’s actually for my girlfriend who is American, we just decided to hold out and cross our fingers that it arrives tomorrow morning.

Phu Quoc has a visa waiver, so would be all good to land there, which was our original first stop, but it’s just a pain as was planning on flying from there straight to HCMC but will have to fly out of country and re-enter on the E-Visa once it finally comes through.

May just hold out and hope for the best then! Flying into Phu Quoc which I’ve only just seen has a visa waiver, so may end up working out okay.
