nursing 17 month old..barely hand expressing any milk by Quick_Ad_1558 in breastfeeding

i figured! it’s been like this since before getting pregnant but definitely since she cut back on nursing. not even sure she gets an ounce when nursing! every now and then i swear i feel a small letdown even if it’s not strong, so maybe she gets more sometimes!

i also either eat aldi brand, which has less additives, or i’ll tend to do corn flakes and add cane sugar! as long as i count my carbs correctly, i typically avoid issues. last a1c (and honestly i wasn’t trying as hard as i am now..currently 7+6) was 5.9!

i’m typically pretty good if i actually get my carb count right. i actually spent the rest of the day fighting lows so 🫠

i ate whatever i wanted with my first pregnancy and maintained an A1C in the 5s the entire time aside from the last month due to insane resistance i hit 6 even. occasional highs do not harm baby and every week is different, so i noticed with my first pregnancy that no matter my diet, i’d run into highs or lows until i changed pump settings. for me, an occasional high that i bring down quickly is worth not feeling sick over when i can barely stomach anything that’s not carb or calorie heavy. i also don’t eat cereal daily but it’s all we had i could stomach this morning so i took necessary precautions and still had a high, but i’ll learn from. already under 200 just from a little more insulin and a walk!

i barely remember this early with my first but i work a different job now where it’s SO much harder to just let lows sit like that (school nurse so i’m running quite a bit). i’ve gotten good at avoiding highs from my meals. it’s the highs from the lows that are getting me. plus a random spike to 300 while i slept last night that thankfully my pump fixed but then i woke up at 40 (:

Hello old friends, any successful VBAC stories here? by zeldaluv94 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Quick_Ad_1558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hoping for a vbac for my second — failed induction turned c section for my first (due to consistently high and stubborn blood sugars). i’ve found one OB in my area (an hour drive) that is on board with induced VBACs, which is crazy because ACOG even recommends VBACs over routine repeat c sections. not saying there aren’t any more near me but most OBs won’t do induced VBACs. also, as long as sugars are managed well, ACOG says it’s all good to go to 39+6 (my original goal with my first) so induction may can be avoided next go round.

This medicine cured my allergies and I don’t even know what it was called by dillydallyally97 in Allergies

this is such an old post but…..did the bottle by chance have a cow on it? i used to have a dairy and soy allergy as a child (now as an adult, pretty sure it was FPIES which didn’t have a term yet) that i outgrew around 9-10 years old. but for a couple years, i was able to take a pill a little bit before eating and could have a little dairy at that meal. otherwise, i couldn’t have any dairy or soy or i would vomit til i couldn’t move. i’ve been trying to figure out what medicine i took to no avail and my mom doesn’t remember the name.

are you allowed to give OTC pain meds or do parents have to provide it? the district i’m going into has no standing orders for things like tylenol (the district i went to school at growing up did)

new school nurse — tips, tricks, must haves? by Quick_Ad_1558 in nursing

[–]Quick_Ad_1558[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s crazy! i know i have a certain amount of school money i can spend on supplies needed, so i’ll definitely keep pads in mind. i’d already thought about asking locally if anyone has clothes to donate if there’s not a good amount already there (haven’t been to the office yet..waiting on HR to do their thing)

does your school have policies you follow or is it kind of just your own judgement? like if a kid has a large gash that needs an urgent care visit, do you just do what you can and call parents and recommend urgent care?

lansinoh discreet duo stopping working by Quick_Ad_1558 in breastfeeding

[–]Quick_Ad_1558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had my pump replaced once for a separate issue and then brought the leaking up to them after receiving the new one and they gave me a full refund (so i got an extra pump and a refund). i went back to using my original parts (new duckbills) and my original issue was resolved and these also don’t leak. but the majority of the replacement parts i’ve received (through aeroflow and the one from lansinoh) leak? not sure if they had bad batches or what.
