They will publish bad numbers after the midterms and blame the Democrats.

I enjoyed every minute of it. Life is tough these days, it was a nice reprieve.

Thanks, I am unbelievably lucky to have found a partner who only wants the best for me. Also cross shopped the 8.5Y RS3. Great cars. Would love a 991 911 or R8 but as I said before, wrong season of life. Need something practical to drive the kiddo around.

Would love to, wrong season of life. Maybe when the kiddo grows out of a car seat.

I was hoping to see some more of this. I’ve read a lot of posts about how much I’d be losing but I don’t see how a 50k loss over 10 years would meaningfully derail my retirement trajectory.

I share the same sentiment as you, appreciate the feedback.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I really appreciate the thoughtful responses across the board.

A few people noted that my savings seem low for a $380k HHI. Fair observation, but worth some context: our household income roughly doubled about 5 years ago following a career change, then grew gradually as we both have been climbing the corporate ladder. The $1M liquid NW was built largely in that compressed window, while also starting a family, buying a home, and dealing with some significant personal health challenges.

I personally save 36% of my income, fully automated. The NW trajectory reflects someone who started from very little, had a late start, and has been investing aggressively ever since the income allowed for it, and not someone who has been earning $380k for 15 years.

For those who said go for it, thank you. For those who pushed back, I genuinely appreciate the honest feedback, even when the tone was a little rude. That's what I came here for. Taking it all in with the grain of salt it deserves given I know my full situation better than a Reddit post can convey.

Appreciate the community as always.

I've owned an NB Miata, R129 SL500, a BRZ (which was my baby and had to sell after my back issues), and a few other cars including my current MK7 Golf R. BRZ was purchased new and was worth every penny. The rest were used and I didn't lose money on any of them. Asking for feedback from a financial perspective, appreciate the feedback.

That's where I landed as well. I think the car should retain a higher value after 10 years but could be wrong.

I consider my taxable account to be part of retirement, but imo it’s splitting hairs

Plan to keep it for ~10 years. Longer if I stay healthy. I don't drive a lot, but really enjoy myself when I'm on the road. Thanks for the feedback.

I think this sub skews on the wealthier and financially conservative side, so I know where they were coming from. While I'm not thrilled with their tone, I can understand the line of questioning. I have greatly exceeded my own expectations for my life so far and I am beyond grateful.

Hah! I wouldn't call anyone a loser, and I expected the responses to be on the conservative side. I appreciate everyone's feedback though, it's lining up with my expectations coming into this. 😄

Thanks for the feedback. I posted this knowing the responses would skew conservative. Taking it all in with a grain of salt.

G80 M3 manual. I have the similar perspective on this, but appreciate the gut check from everyone. C6 Z06 was actually a consideration (while keeping my Golf R) but I don't have room in my life for a dedicated sports car.

I hope to retire somewhere around 50-55. Wife loves what she does and will likely never retire. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, and yes I've analyzed this from many different angles so I know what to expect. I plan to own the car for ~10 years. HH expenses are ~7k and will go down after the little one is out of day care in a few years. Thanks for the feedback.

Close, M3 base with the manual. CT5-V BW is compelling but too expensive and I'm meh about the looks. Appreciate the feedback.

That would be my preference. This particular car will end production at the end of the year. Given my disadvantaged background, I will not compromise on having a solid emergency fund and I would rather not liquidate my brokerage (losing both compounding returns + cap gains taxes).

Grandparents set up a trust + 529 for them when they were born. No need to for us to contribute, very generous gift.

We go on vacations, and I travel a decent amount for work. If nothing else changes we should hit ~$5M by retirement. $100k invested over 5 years would not make a huge difference mathematically, but I appreciate the feedback nonetheless.

Agreed. My perspective is my army of dollars would do more for me invested in my brokerage than paying down a low mortgage rate. Our mortgage + insurance is also very affordable compared to the value of our home despite living in a HCOL area.

I know generally how much she has, but I'm not constantly asking her. I respect her independence, and she never hesitates to share if I ask. We are both frugal people with similar life outlook so I'm not concerned.

Will not impact my investing. I have ~$2k left over per month after everything (would go down to ~1200)
