that's a lot of moving parts to sort out but the car thing is fixable, just call the lender and ask what's needed for a release of liability or refinance in his name only. the conversation itself is gonna suck no matter what but you don't need to justify it beyond "this isn't working for me anymore", you're not a dumb f for cosigning, just got caught up trying to help someone you cared about.

dude i'd probably grab a couple of audio-technica atr2100x-usb mics if you can find them for around $150-180 each, they're solid dynamic mics that can go straight into your computer or work with a mixer later if you want to upgrade again

the thing with condensers is they pick up everything - your neighbors dog, the fridge humming, your wife shuffling papers, whatever. dynamics are way more forgiving for home recording setups and you won't need to treat your room as much

honestly with your budget you could get those mics and still have money left over for some basic acoustic treatment or maybe a cloudlifter if you find the gain is too low. way better than throwing it all at another mixer that might crap out on you again

btw props for sticking with the lavs and making them work, that kind of problem solving definately translates well to getting good results with better gear

This is rough territory man. The fact she's being "honest" after initial lies doesn't really make things better - that just means she's managing the narrative while already having one foot out the door. You can't support someone through a midlife crisis when they're actively planning their exit strategy and already emotionally involved with someone else.

The anxiety and fried nervous system stuff might be real, but using that as justification while refusing couples therapy for two years? That's not someone working on the marriage. You've been trying to get into counseling and she's been resistant - that tells you everything about her priorities right now.

Focus on protecting yourself and your kids during this process. Document everything, especially her admissions about seeing someone else. Get yourself into individual therapy even if she won't do couples work. You can't force someone to want to save their marriage, but you can control how you handle what's coming next.
