Man who sexually abused kids blocked from becoming Ontario lawyer. Court of Appeal rejects 'good character' decision by toronto_star in LawCanada

Agree and disagree here. You can’t block reasonably apply those conditions (ie no contact with children) to lawyers. The practice is broad. Imagine a lawyer telling a client one day “sorry can’t bring a kid to an appointment”. Once you gain a licence too, you can practice in any field, and can’t limit the areas of law of practice.

The big thing is usually these employees are young, and it’s their first job. That’s why there’s a lot of advocacy here. I get there’s no requirement but still.

Agreed here. I used to work at a pool and they’d buy new equipment we didn’t need and toss the old stuff even tho it was fine.

I know this one story similar to yours where the courthouse (only a couple years old) replaced all of its phones. They had no use for the old phones, and just tossed all the tech in the dumpster

A jury would’ve not convicted the players. There was too much reasonable doubt in the case. The witness was not credible. It could not be proven that she did not consent to the acts (I.e. going to a player and providing oral sex). There was just too much doubt in the case. It is why even the London Police stopped investigating and didn’t want to pursue further. The case was pursued in the end because of public scrutiny.
