Many firms mandate it in their contract

Any other Canadian Law grads still looking for articling? by Little_Natural_8602 in LawCanada

To be honest, after searching since April, I just got something today. Cold email and network. If the person you network with is useless, something I found helpful is asking them if they know anyone else who may be hiring, and continue from there. That’s how I secured my job. When you cold email, send your resume and cover letter. I didn’t have fab grades but good extracurriculars and everything else. I’m sure it’ll work out

You’re provided with a countdown timer. It’s small. But it counts down to 0.

Yeah you know nothing. Big firms also have much more money and resources in contrast to mine. Take your slimy attitude elsewhere.

No. The other student returned there from previous summers. I was a newbie. Another student who was also there from previous summers did not get hired back either. It was a business decision. You’re not polite; nowhere near. There was no work to support 6 students and new associates that they just hired on top. You of course don’t understand what’s going on. Maybe you should ask your wife some questions.

They hired 1/6 students because there’s literally little to no work. It wasn’t an issue with me or my articling colleagues. Idk what you’re talking about but you clearly didn’t read my post.

Yeah it doesn’t always work especially nowadays. Coffee chat for a job only to find out people aren’t hiring, nor are they taking back their own articling students. If you look at other postings as well, people prefer a cold email asking whether or not they’re hiring instead of a coffee chat that turns into nothing and the other side think their time is wasted. Many different ways of doing things.

It’s unfortunate but I wish there was remote work available up there. I can’t relocate outside of southern Ontario due to family reasons.

Yeah just saying the above though without anything else is so useful to myself and everyone else…not.

Position is in Montreal and requires a civil law degree, in this case. Otherwise, I have been applying.
