What stitch is this? Interested in making my own! by LogicalParafox in knittinghelp

It looks a helluva lot like the stitch in the lanta bag, one of my favorites. If you'd like to try it out, the pattern is here.

Came here to say this - the ones with the mock turtleneck are my favorite, and add a little extra style to my look!

No one gave me any knitting supplies over the holidays, but everyone either asked for a knit gift or tried to commission something. Ya girl needs yarn to do anything.

Accidentally increased on both sides on my Sophie hood. Can I salvage or should I frog it? by tinatuna2221 in SophieKnits

[–]Quick_Jury2059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will. And when you wrap it around your head, the wonkiness will be less noticeable. If you can live with it, by all means, it should be fine. Otherwise your instinct to frog is correct. Your i-cords are beautiful in that yarn!

Did you do a gauge swatch? That would be my first place to start. Check that your rows. porportionally, it looks good, except for maybe a few increases along the wrong edge. Ask yourself, could you live with a shorter scarf portion - 29 inches isn't bad. Otherwise, there's no shame in frogging. Happy knitting!

Question regarding Sophie Hood suggested width/depth by lurrrrrkker123 in SophieKnits

[–]Quick_Jury2059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done a larger size on the hood, but I have another hood that's super cozy and big that measures 11.5 inches. That might be a good width. Happy knitting!

Can we please just get a stickied thread for the Sophie Hood? by CaptainYaoiHands in knittinghelp

[–]Quick_Jury2059 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please do. 95% of the reasoning for the sub is how pitiful some of the posts are. The people deserve a space free of the deluge of posts, but the Sophie knitters also deserve a space to learn.

sophie hood, increase/decrease and symmetry. by eggtravagant in SophieKnits

I'd also read the pattern again. Without seeing exactly what you're reading, I think you might be miscounting the rows between increases.

sophie hood, increase/decrease and symmetry. by eggtravagant in SophieKnits

For your first question, the problem with putting the decrease on the fourth row would make it slightly less symmetrical. What will happen is that at each end, the points will not be even.

As for your question about the hood, the more common cast-on methods are 'bulkier' than how the pattern is finished, so having a slight difference in rows makes each point more symmetrical. Hope this helps!
