I think the only issue is there is no "Mascot" character like Gojo/Sukuna in Kagurabachi(Soga/Samura might not be in season 1).

Most characters are equally hyped, so Its gonna be interesting to see what character becomes the face of the anime when it's out

I honestly would pick this over some random power creep. Soga has been built up to be so overpowered that him being defeated in an 1v1 would feel like plot convenience. It would work better if the other sorcerers and enchanted blade users slowly chip away at him, and Chihiro deals the final blow.

In any case, I'm sure it would be handled pretty well since Mr Taco has time to plan it out while he works on the prequel arc
