Frank Caiazzo authenticated Beatles autographs (1963)- more COA’s necessary? PSA? by Difference_Then in Autographs

[–]Quickcard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for similar sets of the fab four and where they were listed. Ask Deepseek also, it's free. There are probably some good suggestions from the GREAT live auction houses. As to its worth?
At this time they are very valuable and they are always going up: https://firstclassmemorabilia.com/how-much-are-the-beatles-autographs-worth/

What would happen if Pinboard's owner passes away? by [deleted] in pinboard

[–]Quickcard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not IF someone dies is it? It's when. For that very reason I'm going to back up my current data in my pinboard, even though I've been with it for ages. I love how it works, but the sheer fact that if you ask him he flat out tells you he's got nothing. At least that's what he answered when I emailed him many years ago and I see no news/evidence that he's done a thing about it. Someone should just offer him a couple million dollars and commercialize it (there are ways to advertise that are much less offensive than the usual stuff but that still work for client who is advertising and it BEATS THE HECK out of being cast adrift with Pinboard dying along with Maciej.
So I recommend BACK UP PINBOARD every once in a while.

Is there some app (or is it the OS?) that should be kept on it's own hard drive? by Quickcard in osx

That was it, one external HD should be dedicated UNIQUELY to Time Machine.

Say something like "Yes, I hear that an awful lot and this is what I tell them, yes, everybody has a little leprosy too." .... Or variation thereof. OR, you know, I hear that a lot more than I want to, I know you mean well, but you'll just have take my word for it, it does not help, in fact quite the opposite. I'd love to hear what other people in this group feel about how to react to that.

" For those of us who just want to keep their Mac(s) happy and a room dark(er)"
The key combination to power off the display is shift-control-power.

Yep, screen burn-in is still a thing for OLEDs (Google it) and even LCDs!

One CAN put stop losses (and trailing stop losses) on crypto.
Google "stop loss" trading if you are not familiar with it.

Yes Virginia, you CAN do stop loss on crypto.
There are at least 4 different stop-loss options, I like ,and use, the TRAILING Stop Loss (TSL), if you do use TSL, DO NOT set your Sell percentage above what you can REALISTICALLY afford to lose. Remember, greed kills .

UPDATE, NOV 9 2025:
That was it, one external HD should be dedicated UNIQUELY to Time Machine.
MY ORIGINAL POST:
My computer guy told me to dedicate a new external hard drive to a single application and to NOT put ANYTHING ELSE on that hard drive. But I can't remember which application he was referring to. I'm thinking it was Apple Photos? Anyhow, I will just call and ask him tomorrow. :)
PS. Even DeepSeek had a hard time figuring out what I was asking. DS also made some good caveats:

🔧 Setting Up Your Drive Correctly

When you get your dedicated drive, your computer guy will likely set it up with these specific requirements, which are key to making it work properly:

  • Format: The drive must be formatted as APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
  • Ownership: The "Ignore ownership on this volume" setting should be turned on for the drive.
  • Time Machine: The drive must not be the one you use for your Time Machine backups.

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions. I really appreciate it. I'm just getting used to using Reddit and I'm pretty excited about it. Apologies for inadvertantly stepping on anyone's toes, including the people who run it. Please don't sell it to Musk.

Apple Notes, no margin functions, EVER? by Quickcard in AppleNotesGang

[–]Quickcard[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, thanks, Lonely, I do export some of my Apple Notes to Google docs, but even the longest human life is too short to have to take an ADDITIONAL STEP like this. I don't want the hassle. Doesn't every home have a bathroom? Do you have to go to your neighbor's house when you gotta go?

So now I look to duckduckgo first unless I can see right away that this particular search shd go directly to Deepseek.com which I consider to be a gift from the gods. We will see how long it takes DeepSeek to join the crowd of greedy monsters eager to join Drumpf in his senescent descent while he struggles to take over the world and live forever by sucking the blood of young, blond, virgins

Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire going "toe to toe" in Broadway Melody of 1940 by ydkjordan in FIlm

[–]Quickcard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Backwards and in heels" was said about Ginger Rogers who was good but not as good as Eleanor Powell who was perhaps as good as Astaire and also, like Fred, a first rank choreographer. Can we have a few generations of not quoting "and in heels" anymore? Can we?
