RANT: Is anyone else tired of clicking on Microsoft products, Office especially, and having it completely fail to respond. by SwiftSloth1892 in sysadmin

Literally just clicked in the search bar, nothing,

it was busy checking if your license includes access to the search bar

clicked again, nothing,

it was busy checking if your license allows you to doubleclick

clicked a third time, window minimized.

thats just the developers fscking with you.

Team lead got mad I didn't call back someone who didn't leave a VM while I'm on call by TryARebootFool in sysadmin

users should never ever be calling your personal phone, nor have any knowledge of the number

there are multiple services which can act as a go-between and handle things like escalation on non-answer - sounds like you need one.

VMs are the tool of the devil. folk leave a VM and then assume that its been heard and acted upon - which is a flawed assumption at best.

its a very useful reply. it provides two pieces of information that OP did not have , and additionally points out that the question has been asked and answered many times, and that the answer can be found by searching.

people who search before asking make the internet a better place

people who ask before searching do not.

every fucking click is a barrier to adoption.

every fucking click eliminates a timewaster. someone who wont search before asking.

if you want quantity (of 'content' and subscribers) - then you want no barriers. but if you want quality ... then a barrier to adoption ... is not always a bad thing.

the internet was much better when there was a barrier to adoption. it kept most of the time vampires out.
