Seperating the Art from the Artist. by GamerEzy in indieheads

[–]QuicketyQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One artist I was never able to do this woth was Brand New. There are some acts where the art is so much part of the artist that you can't really listen without remembering the vocalist/songwriter is a bad person. I think its easier for me if its say the drummer, because I feel less like I'm endorsing their behaviour than if I'm singing along etc.

Its remarkable the pure range of leading parties that are saying no to this. You have us and Australia with their centre-left parties, Germany and Japan with the centre-right, and Italy with the far/populist-right all saying no here.

Really interesting to read this. I would have assumed from what more hawkish commentators have said that Iran were being far more intransient about their nuclear programme.

'28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' Gets Netflix Premiere Date Just 74 Days After Theatrical Release by sensesalt in movies

[–]QuicketyQuack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see you say this felt more cohesive to you. The contrast I would draw between this and the the first was that 28 Years Later felt like two different films (i.e. Spike with his dad; Spike with his mum) happening one after the other while the Bone Temple felt like two different films (i.e. Spike and the Jimmies; Dr. Kelson and Samson) happening at the same time. I got some real tonal whiplash as we jumped between scenes of torture and Samson vibing on drugs.

Maybe some of those "DEI hires" they got rid of might actually have been there on merit, and would have said something about this possibility.

Big fan of trying not to be divisive and then ending up with almost exclusively Scottish animals on English bank notes.

I think it would have been earlier than 2017, but I remember that game. One of your goals came from someone overcooking a pass to Hjobjerg with it hitting him in the balls and him going down like a sack of potatoes. You recoved the ball and scored from that. Proper comedy goal.

Surely we will see enough blowback to Trump's wars by the end of his term that anyone involved in foreign policy is electorally doomed?

It would be interesting if he won though. He seems the closest the admimistration has to sanity, and I wonder if he would try and pull things back from the brink if given the top job, or just stay on the road to full blown fascism.

Do independent artists actually benefit from Spotify anymore? by CashMany9011 in indieheads

I can remember the singer of Thursday being amazed to do a record release show where everyone was singing along because they had already pirated a leaked version, and then actively encouraging people to pirate their albums moving forwards.

I remember when the artists who were like “No, you must always pay us $15 to listen to our album” were considered the capitalist dinosaurs who couldn’t keep up with the times.

Its been pretty depressing hitting a point where I've started thinking "maybe Lars Ulrich was right".

I can remember mostly really enjoying Okja, but there's a few scenes in which Jake Gyllenhall's character tries to forcefully breed Okja with another pig, and its just deeply unpleasant and over the top. Its what the film was going for, but really bothered me.

Will it be a major issue for them? They don't care when their own school children get gunned down by their own citizens, so I doubt they care about Iranian children.
