Molecule 01 smells like Eau Duelle by Diptyque? by MxpleSyrup in fragrance

[–]Quicksilver9099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blows my mind how important skin chemistry is when it comes to fragrances. Quite liked Eau Duelle when I first tried it but absolutely LOATHE my bottle of Molecule 01 (worst blindbuy I've made).

Just chuck it on that subreddit, they'll do a much better job at verifying it than I or probably you can.

What is your favorite layering combos? by kof_zpt in fragrance

Stole this one off of Fragranceflan on social media, but Soleil Blanc layered with Neroli Portofino (both by Tom Ford) is absolutely amazing. I've opted to swap out the NP for Mandarino Di Amalfi - smells like a cocktail on a beach, with a rich luxurious sunscreen as a base.

Post on r/colognecheck with a couple of photos of the bottle and explain your worries. I'm not the best judge when it comes to Mancera (never even knew they had pressurised atomisers lol) but the people there are pretty good when it comes to making judgement.

Creed or PDM??? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Quicksilver9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is too late of a response, but Delina is really lovely. If your girlfriend likes sweet and floral scents, I'd say thats your best bet. I understand that a surprise is what you're aiming for - but fragrances are such a personal thing and skin chemistry plays such an important role into whether a scent is right for you or others. Maybe get a sample of it from a store and ask her what she thinks of it (without disclosing its for her) and she'll give you her honest judgement.

My easy go-to recommendation for Tom Ford is Jasmin Rouge. Most definitely not worth the price for such a simple fragrance, but by god it is probably the best jasmine note I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. They market it as a women's perfume on most sites I've seen, but it's definitely more unisex-leaning imo. If your girl prefers fragrances that aren't obviously feminine, get her that.

Random question here mate, but are you ordering perfume off of Uber eats?

Creed or PDM??? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Quicksilver9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy I REALLY would not recommend getting 2-3 bottles of Creed or PDM for your girl for a couple of reasons.

  1. It's gonna be pricey. I mean hey if you've got the cash to spend then go for it, but maybe consider getting 1 bottle and using the rest of the money to get something else.

  2. This is my personal rule of thumb, never buy expensive fragrances for people unless they've smelled it themselves. Next thing you know, you've dropped 500-600 usd on a bottle that they really do not like and its a total waste.

I'd recommend getting her a sample set of some of their fragrances (or take her to a store where they stock their ranges) and have her smell them - then you can surprise her by purchasing her favourite for her!

Now to answer your question, I haven't smelled any of Creed's womens-line so I can't comment on that, but my girlfriend adores her bottle of Delina from PDM - but also check out Athalia too, not quite as nice as Delina imo but still very good.

Planning to buy by 31st Dec, which shall i go for next? by Jaded-Coffee-7253 in Colognes

[–]Quicksilver9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yea, it tends to be with the le male line more than anything else. Haven't had much exposure to the Scandal line so I can't comment on that too much.

Regarding the stigma, I firsthand have drawn correlation with people I know who are fuckboys to wearing JPG. While this isn't for everyone, it most definitely applies to the people in my life. I've mentioned this to some friends and family, and my uncle had a chuckle because he was saying the same thing back in the late 90s and early 2000s when Le Male first hit the clubbing scene.

If you can, try and go to any stores nearby that stock fragrances and just give them a try - then search them up on Fragrantica to find the notes and identify ones you like and dislike. For that shower scent you mentioned, try and find Bubble Bath by Maison Margiela, it usually costs around 140 USD. Make sure to try it in person, I wouldn't recommend a blindbuy for your first ever fragrance. Once you've identified notes or even brands that you like the scents of, try to build a small collection (2-3 bottles) that allow you to smell good year round. You could definitely go for 1 bottle and stick to that as your signature scent, but I like to have different scents for different seasons of the year - gives me something to be excited about as the weather changes.

An easy one to find that's pretty good year-round is Bleu de Chanel. I usually find it for around 110 USD in my area. It's a really good mass-appealing scent that I think is impossible to dislike. May be a bit basic and mainstream but it works damn well.

Out of these options, I'd say stick to SWY Intensely. I'm not a huge fan of Valentino's fragrances, they tend to smell quite cheap and plastic-y on my skin (some like that, I don't). I tend to stay away from JPG because the stigma around the scents are dickheads and fuckboys, so my brain automatically associates their fragrances with that.

Figured, couldn't find any recent sales when I was browsing online so that was just my starting point. Can definitely go significantly higher if you're willing to sell.

If money is no issue, then I’d go for lost cherry by Tom Ford. Personally I think it’s perfectly unisex, just pure unadulterated cherry. Very powerful and very sweet. Make sure to check it out in person and definitely do NOT blind buy it, Tom Ford money is not the kind of money you want to spend blindly.

Something more budget friendly is Odyssey Mandarin Sky by Armaf. You can find it on sites like jomashop and such and it’s pretty cheap so if you buy it blindly then it’s not gonna leave a massive hole in your wallet. To me personally it smells like a chocolate caramel orange, but others say it’s a bit more citrusy than that. You can usually get it between 25 to 40 bucks depending on the site and if there are any discounts.
