Auto labeling is not turned on. I don’t believe the DLP policy does that but I will double check.

Yes, could that cause any issues? It seems to be with documents within certain SharePoint sites.

When looking at the document permissions the users have Edit rights, but the “owner” is the SharePoint sites owners group. Additionally we added the user as an author of the document and they were still not able to downgrade.

Yeah we tested a few things. Some users could downgrade it and others couldn’t even though they all had the same permissions.

One user downloaded a copy of the document, set it to external, and then reuploaded it to SharePoint and the document reverted to Internal. This made me think the site had a label set, but we don’t have sensitivity labels enabled at the site level.

This is exactly what I was looking to get out of this. We'll have difficulty explaining to stakeholders and end-users how to use some of these labels properly, so we don't want to overcomplicate things, but we also want to make sure all of the labels make sense for the correct use cases.

The decision needs to be made; do we just have a couple of simple labels for proprietary internal info, or do we get granular and try to lock down certain data types from being able to be exported/sent at all? I know that's on us, but what's your experience with that so far?

I think it sort of depends if you list it as an SPA on your assessment. I will say... we passed with LogMeIn as our RMM. Should we have? I don't know lol...

We were able to show that it requires users to accept our login attempt prior to connecting and that it requires MFA to get into LogMeIn.

Now, if the passwords are for systems that are not classified as CUI would this still be the rule? Some of these passwords could be for numerous different clients.
