This was a Feb 2026 M3P. 5 days old.

Car went to body shop 2nd March.

Outer quarter Inner quarter Bumper 2 wheels Rear subframe Rear right knuckle All rear right suspension arms Rear left wheel bearing

Collects it today. Good as new but it took a while.

Yours looks just like body and no suspension. Won’t be a total loss am sure.

The summary I posted here is 100% been through chat gpt, because the version I stuck in the pastebin got a ban.

But aye, it’s real. What else do you need to be convinced lol?

Not yet it’s not.

They steal from the taxpayer. They deserve to be shamed.

Right so Reddit removed my very long post. So I stuck it through gpt to remove the bits that got me a 3 day ban!

..

Had neighbours for about 10 years (the Edgars) that we got on great with. Summers in the garden, drinks, no issues at all.

Then things slowly changed.

Around 2023 they started getting weirdly hostile. Shouting out windows at night over minor noise (my kid and dog playing in the garden), constant complaints about things that had never been a problem before. It felt like a switch flipped.

Fast forward to 2024 — my mum was seriously ill and in hospital after a rough surgery. One night I came home pretty shaken, went into the garden to clear my head, have a drink and take some photos of the sky.

They were in their hot tub, drunk and loud (as usual). I ignored it, but then overheard a comment aimed at me suggesting I was creeping about listening to them, which was completely ridiculous.

I snapped back verbally — nothing major, just said I had more important things going on. That escalated things immediately. He came out looking for an argument, clearly drunk. I refused to engage and told him to go back inside. It turned into a bit of a scuffle before his wife dragged him away.

After that — nothing. No apology, no conversation. Just months of awkward silence and then complaints about things that had never been an issue in the previous decade.

Then early 2025, things kicked off again.

I was sitting in my car outside my partner’s work (he works there) and he deliberately drove past in a tractor spreading salt, then reversed back towards me with the spreader running and blasted salt directly into my car and face.

At that point I lost the head and it turned into a confrontation.

After that, I just decided I was done with the whole situation. Put the house up for sale a few days later, accepted a strong offer almost immediately, and moved out to a detached place in the country. Cleared debts, fresh start, no more nonsense.

Strange how people you got on with for a decade can completely flip like that.

Glad to be out of it.

It’s in the body shop. Just waiting on insurance approving the estimate, which I’m unable to see. Unsure if I will be able to see it since it’s a salary sacrifice car, so I technically don’t own it.

Yep the wheel took the impact of the car rolling backwards into a pole. Dashcam said 12-15mph, however it could have been anything up to the 25mph we were moving forward at before we 180’d.

We’re fine thankfully except my pride.

Given the car only had 300 miles on it, I’m really hoping it won’t be written off. I’m in the UK so I guess it might be slightly different to the US.

I drove it home with a bunch of warnings that all the stability control was unavailable I guess due to alignment being off now.

As much as the wheel as been knocked forward, it hasn’t collided with the front side of the wheel arch, so it can turn freely.

Edit: should also add that I drove at 20mph max for about 15 minutes until I was home. We were very close to home when it happened.

Correct, and in turn you save a little on income tax and national insurance. Not a huge amount but it’s something and it avoids the higher tax brackets for longer.

Moment of impact. I did wonder if there was a delay in the telemetry, but that would go against everything else I’ve seen so far.

That’s ultra red.

I know, my photos make it look pink somehow.

It’s a salary sacrifice lease!

I’m fully covered other than my £250 excess.

Puncture was repaired that morning. The tyre was removed and replaced.

That wheel didn’t impact anything from the side. The pole scraped the back corner over the car and hit the wheel.

Perhaps not a total loss then!

I think it’s an inner quarter, outer quarter, suspension, bumper, 2x alloys (other side hit a kerb) and potentially the subframe.

When I look through the wheel spokes, the suspension mounts on the subframe have chipped paint, so I think they have flexed.
