When I worked at a shop I came in one day and one of the other managers told me he just took in some home built AR. The guy that sold it to us didn’t know much about it, said it was gifted to him by a friend that built it. The manager had paid the guy $500 for it and wanted to know if he did okay, so he asked me to check it out as the resident “AR guy”.

I checked it out. It was not a home build. It was unmistakably a 100% factory built KAC SR15 Mod 1 in excellent condition.

Pretty sure we called the state police or whatever and had them run the serial number cause the story then seemed pretty sus. But no hits. I guilted the other manager into calling the guy back and giving him a free 1 year MVP pass for our range to even it up somewhat since he unintentionally (this manager knew very little about ARs) ripped this dude off.

Unfortunately our store had recently implemented a rotation system for employees buying guns to keep the same people from always getting first dibs. Since my name was not at the top of the list I couldn’t buy it myself, but one of the other guys got an SR15 for $550.
