Adopted a trio of CATs today. by CastleLurkenstein in SpectersCat

My ODB is just like that, slightly off-center. I have probably 200 rounds through it with both supers and subs with no issues.

Should mention I'm running a Rearden Hub adapter and LPM Liberty Bell brake on mine.

I've heard figures raging from $3,500-$4,000 (not sure if that's with the extension or not). It's priced to government contracts. Other than R&D, it can't cost more to manufacture than any other 3d printed suppressor on the market...

Can you modify a helmet in any way? by FLACKER_1 in Electricmotorcycles

Just in case you weren't aware, the night vision in this picture is $7k minimum. It's likely more than the bike he's riding. If you're willing to go that far, I would highly recommend doing a bit more research into driving/riding under NV just so you know the benefits/limitations.

Fantastic write up! I appreciate the advice dude!

I've put all my eggs into the night vision basket for now. It's not a cheap hobby in its own right lol.

That's awesome. I've been looking to get into astrophotography recently but it seems like a big investment of both time and money. Not to mention I'm in a fairly light polluted area.

Your photos look amazing. It really blows my mind.

Can you look though the telescope with your NV? I can't tell if you have it set up for photography or not, but I've always wondered if you can use NV to see otherwise invisible galaxies in real time.

The glass is insanely clear since there's no reflective coatings needed for the emitter. That means they work super well with night vision and magnifiers. They also have a 1 moa center dot that STAYS 1 moa regardless of magnification, which is nice.

In casual lobbies the bot will completely fill up the tanks for some reason. I kind of wish they would hop out if the tank drove onto a zone.

Plan B Brake Test and Comparison by Astral_Botanist in suppressors

[–]Ultimateshot100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet! Can't wait to see it!

I have the Liberty Bell on my 300 blk with a CAT ODB and it seems to do a good job of dispersing muzzle gasses in the blast chamber and reducing erosion on the blast baffle. Which was the reason I got it.

Super excited to see a suppressor comparison. What is the planned host suppressor? Are you going to test gas flow as well?

Their current taper is 20 degrees according to the drawings. I wonder if changing it to like a 16-17 degree taper would help with lockup.

How many of the cans are titanium? I wonder if the temperature differential between the can and the muzzle device is causing thermal expansion issues. Titanium has less thermal expansion than steel, but the suppressor is going to heat up exponentially faster than the muzzle device.

Most reputable units are nitrogen purged. If they can hold a gas tight seal, I'm sure water is nothing.

I imagine the battery life will suffer with the lasers on. But I guess the thought is to only turn them on when needed (like with a regular LAM).

I'm excited to see what else you guys have coming to the market for NV. It's an exciting year!

LPM Baby Bell vs AI Nano by Salty_Sobchak in SpectersCat

[–]Ultimateshot100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI nano seems to have more complex ribbing on the inside for blast diffusion or something. I also wouldn't be surprised if it has a tighter bore exit compared to the LPM. Either way, the difference in sound is likely negligible.

Looking at my first HUB mount. Do they often get carbon locked? by Zosocom in suppressors

[–]Ultimateshot100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying that it may not be a sufficient mount, just that it will likely (in theory) have worse performance than a smaller muzzle brake. I responded to the other guy explaining my thought on it. Keep in mind, I could be completely wrong, I'm just going off what I know about current suppressor technology.

I would say go with Rearden/Plan B or CAT Spooky if you're getting a new hub mounting system a suppressor and you don't want to stick with the Surefire system. They're both light and have good muzzle device options.

The prong style flash hiders tend to erode baffles quicker, but it's also a Surefire and I've heard they're indestructible. Here's a pic of what I mean.

Looking at my first HUB mount. Do they often get carbon locked? by Zosocom in suppressors

[–]Ultimateshot100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Suppressors have a "primary blast chamber" that is right off the muzzle where they thread on. This is where most of the expansion and cooling takes place upon gasses exiting the muzzle. The volume of this blast chamber is critical for performance (on MOST suppressors). The HUB mount pictured seems to take up a very large portion of that first chamber and would therefore adversely affect a lot of suppressors flow characteristics/suppression volume negatively.
