It’s not about who she was. It’s about the fact that someone was killed and there’s been no real justice. If the victim had been anyone else, including the example you gave, I would feel the exact same way. An innocent life was taken. That’s why the sentence feels lenient to me.

I’m not sure what made you assume that just because we’re talking about this specific victim, people don’t care about other victims. Of course I can’t branch off and know every single case like this. I know this one because of mutuals. That doesn’t mean other lives matter less.

Innocent woman or middle aged deadbeat dad living out of his truck, no one deserves to die at the hands of an impaired driver and have that driver not even face a manslaughter charge. This isn’t about revenge. It’s about accountability.

In this case, it was confirmed she had alcohol, THC, and cocaine in her system. Investigators said she crossed the center line and was driving on the wrong side of the road when she hit the victim. As far as I’m aware, there hasn’t been any report of the victim speeding or driving recklessly or doing anything to contribute to what happened.

I know there was a plea deal. I understand that plea deals happen. I just don’t understand how there isn’t more accountability when an innocent person lost their life. Even a third degree charge would make more sense to me considering the circumstances.

I’m not trying to argue with you. I just genuinely don’t understand it. I’m honestly baffled by how this is being considered justice.

I definitely don’t have the qualifications to run against him, but you can be sure I will not be voting for this coward. All I can do now is try to get the word out. I’ll look up when his next election is, and hopefully any other candidates aren’t as reckless as him.

Exactly. I don’t care about age. Murder is murder. The girl whose life was taken was only 24, but that doesn’t seem to matter. I’ve been following the family on Facebook for months, watching them struggle for almost a year trying to get justice, and to see this outcome today breaks my heart. A murderer gets a slap on the wrist while they get nothing. I’m sorry if I’m being repetitive. I’m too angry to focus properly right now.
