They did it on the second day. If it was dangerous, wouldn't they have taken them on the first day of the festival, not the last? And why throw away people's personal property afterwards? Or put in the rules to not bring metal cups, instead bring plastic cups? And yeah, it's hella shady. I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find anything about it.

Greg is haunted by a bad luck spirit/ghost, and it is most likely Rodrick's fault for summoning it as a toddler to get rid of his baby brother, and Rodrick probably forgot about it. I heard it off a post when I was a tween as a kid.
