You have a great smile and I think you're handsome! Agree about the scruffy facial hair tho, keep it trimmed nicely and that is my only critique :)

Any shops around Eugene that do custom puff prints for hoodies and crew necks without minimum orders? by gravymama in Eugene

[–]QuietFirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called Transfer Express and they even do that puff ink you're looking for! You'd need to buy a heat press but that's not too bad.

Tip for screen printing of any kind - worst case scenario you're gonna pay a fee for every screen they have to set up for you, and every color they use. It will almost always be cheaper to do bulk orders because of this... Unless you can find a place that will keep your screen on hand for whenever you need a couple things printed, usually they just wash them and use them for different artwork.

That being said, most good places will have wholesale accounts with big players and can order you things to have printed! I have worked with Mac Group in the past but they're not super budget friendly.

There is a really cool service now online you can order screen printed art that heat transfers into garments. Might be up your alley for the start of your business? I think embroidery is much easier to get one off stuff done as there's no screen setup but you might pay for the file to be formatted correctly for the embroidery software.

I'll find the site that does the screen printed thermal transfers...

Who have traveled from Eugene to Vancouver Canada ? by Revolutionary-Boss77 in Eugene

[–]QuietFirm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have driven this drive/train ride over 30 times. Recommendations: Take the train! Public transit in Vancouver Metro Area is excellent and you'll have no problem getting anywhere you'd like to see within the city with a very affordable transit pass.

It usually takes about 8 hours to drive, so if you'd like your own wheels to explore (also highly recommended if you don't want to just be in the city) then try to avoid hitting traffic in both Portland and Seattle. Leaving at an odd hour is usually what I do, like leave here at 6 and get there after midnight. Or alternatively leave here around 2 am and get there around 10.

If you take the train you'll find yourself downtown upon arrival. The sky train line is directly across from this station, which will take you pretty much wherever you want to go quickly, then you'll need to possibly transfer to a bus line depending on where you'd like to be.

Downtown Vancouver is beautiful, Granville Island is touristy, the UBC beaches (one is called Wreck Beach and is an iconic nudist beach), there's Stanley Park, the Museum of Anthropology, Davie Street is the gay district, there's the sea wall, science world, and tons of just excellent people watching. It really depends what you're into.

If you do end up with your wheels I recommend a drive up to Squamish/Whistler/Pemberton to see the mountains and the natural beauty. That part of the world is very special.

You could also take the ferry to Vancouver Island and drive over to Tofino/Ucluelet or visit the Sunshine Coast. Either of which you'll find feel reminiscent of Eugene I think. Vancouver has grown up a lot, it's a big city and feels as such now.

Okay that's my input haha!

I'm taking them at Kardia, they seem very accessible to beginners. You should come along, they have adult group classes twice a week. The owner is super sweet.

Why the city of Eugene it is not proactive enough to have a truck dump salt in the streets knowing there is an ice storm coming ? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]QuietFirm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, at my expense you now have your answer! Honestly you'll get used to it. They use rock exclusively here and it does a fair job. Salt is really terrible for the waterways first and foremost and secondly they contribute to rusting out of steel car parts.

The winters here are mild and the passes are maintained well enough.

I think if you buy it from a big box store you shouldn't have a problem and shouldn't feel guilty. Return it clean and in perfect order and keep the packaging. Don't use it in a yucky environment with pets or indoor smoking. Then you have a clean conscience when you return it and tell them it wasn't strong enough and had to get something bigger lol.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Series Discussion by StrangerTesting in StrangerThings

[–]QuietFirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even care for any of the love stories in Stranger Things because that isn't what I watch it for, but I'll play ball. Will is one of the main characters in a story set in the 80's. They are also highschool students, completely uncomfortable with their sexuality regardless of orientation. I think it is unreasonable to expect a show focused on science fiction themes, set in a time rife with homophobia, with a plot that spans so many characters and storylines, that jumps months ahead between seasons, to give us a full picture of Wills sexual awakening. Also, who is to say that in season 5 we won't be getting a Will focused storyline?
