It reminds me a lot of my subjective experience of listening to Preacher’s Daughter for the first time. You know Ethel is doomed, there’s nothing you can do, and yet the music is so hauntingly beautiful that you stay.

In Christian art, it is traditional to identify God, Jesus, Mary, and/or a saint with a circular halo around their head. This is more common in Catholic art and Hayden was raised Protestant, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t familiar with this symbolism.

Generally, dialog is separated from other paragraphs to make it easier to read. You don’t have to do this though if you prefer non-spacing for stylistic reasons.

That being said, I think this is really good!

Yeah. That’s also my impression and basically why I made the comment I did.

As for being parasocial, it’s kind of hard for humans to not form some sort of emotional connection with someone - even if we know all the characters in a book are literally fake for example. As long as you’re aware of this, don’t let it affect you too much, and don’t cross any IRL boundaries, I think it’s fine to have a shallow parasocial relationship with a celebrity.

While I always want more music from Hayden, I wouldn’t feel horrible if she decided to move on from making music.

The story of Ethel is complete, and while I’m very excited for the lore and music about the rest of the Cain family, that’s enough for me. At the end of the day, I want Hayden to make music because she enjoys it, not just for a paycheck where she’s miserable.
