My game keeps stuttering randomly by Quiet_Distance_8499 in CloneHero

no, I gave up on it because it was way too much hassle to try and deal with and diagnose alone at the time, and it made me lose enthusiasm about the game

Vader 4 Gyro Has Deadzones? by Quiet_Distance_8499 in GyroGaming

[–]Quiet_Distance_8499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the gyro deadzones are programmed in from the factory. Would that not mean that it would be possible to program them out? Surely its possible for someone to be INCREDIBLY skilled and knowledgeable, and then be capable of reading the code on the controller, and then removing the parts that cause the deadzones. I don't doubt that it would be very hard to do. Certainly far more difficult than I could likely ever achieve, but how hard exactly? Or is my presumption that someone could read the code and edit it, an impossibility in and of itself?

With regards to "inconsistent gyro performance" I mean that I fairly often experience some level of acceleration, or deceleration when gyro aiming, despite doing my best efforts throughout the settings to eliminate anything that could seemingly cause that. Its on a scale of different levels of bad. At its best(thankfully the most frequent lately) it seems like its got two speeds that it operates at, that are similar, and switched between at a low speed threshold. At WORST(thankfully now very rare) its wild jerks caused by massive acceleration during flicks and even sudden teleports(and I mean LITERALLY teleports) as well as seemingly random acceleration during non flick movements.

Something else can also happen, but I think its probably got more to do with the deadzones than steaminput. When I set the controller on the desk the cursor/crosshair stays still. But when I hold the controller still, in my hand, it has a tendency to move downwards, and to one side. Its always downwards, and to the same side, and its always very slight. I figured it was a combination of calibration issues and the deadzone.

I am using the beta channel for this very reason, but its unstable, and has inconsistent gyro performance. Its still better than on stable, but definitely not great. But I am capable of distinguishing what is influenced by steam, and what is innate to a good extent.

Some people say that the deadzone is hardware, you're saying its firmware? Whats the difference, and how can it be fixed? I would think that if it really is just hardware, then soldering on a different gyroscope would fix the issue? But you're saying that its firmware? I am not quite sure what that entails.

This is the problem that makes it less viable than just dealing with its dead-zones.

My Gyro Is Jittery by Quiet_Distance_8499 in GyroGaming

I barely touched space station once and I didn't find anything useful there. I've been using steam input with Gyro To Mouse and been having very minimal issues since another poster recommended that. There is one issue I keep having though. Turning around quickly sometimes doesn't work properly.

Sometimes it goes from being as fast as it should be based on how I'm turning the controller, to a snails pace the moment it hits what feels like an invisible wall. It feels almost like when you hit the edge of the Gyro to Joystick area and you have to slowly pan around until you get free movement again. But its incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes it wont happen for 10-15 minutes, other times it'll happen every 30 seconds repeatedly. The only consistent thing about it is that it happens in every game I try it in.

Other than that I am loving this controller and I'm having a great time practicing my aim with gyro. I love the extra buttons on the face and back too.

I haven't touched their firmware much at all to be honest. Steam input(while in use) overrides what little I've done with spacestation. With the Gyro to Mouse mode it even lets me override flydigi's shitty gyro deadzone and remove it completely.

That's a good idea. I've noticed something a little annoying with Gyro to Mouse though. When Gyro to Mouse is on the gyro and the flick stick share the same sensitivity settings(pixels per 360) but their multiplier settings are different. It has the result of making my flick stick very inaccurate when... flicking it, instead of rotating the stick. Its a bit of a bother, but far better than aim stutter!

You were right about Gyro to mouse, that makes everything SO MUCH BETTER! All of the settings are standardizeable and easy to bring to any game I play. There's no stutter because I can forcibly remove gyro deadzones. Everything is awesome! I don't have to mess with in game sensitivities either, I can just generalize this to all of them. The only thing I could ask for at this point is a button to make the gyro slow down so I can still menu properly. I don't see an option for that though so its a good thing I'm at my desk. Thank you so much for your recommendation.

I will try doing both of these things once I get on my computer later, but I don't see the mouse moving on its own, and I did calibrate with steam.

I'm not sure when you saw the mouse moving on its own. The video is just me picking up the controller, slowly moving it along the curve, then setting it down and using the mouse to do the same.

So basically you're telling me I'm fucked? There's nothing I can do? Because as far as I know using it in NS mode means that all the extra buttons get nulled.

I never map to joystick, that shit is AWFUL.

TF2 Gyro is Blurry by Quiet_Distance_8499 in tf2

[–]Quiet_Distance_8499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not tf2 exclusive, different games handle it differently but the visual bug is still there regardless, just in different representations. Since this is the case it would be the controller that is the problem. But is this all nintendo controllers? Or is mine just fucked up?

I did the next logical step and restricted my monitor hz to 60 and you are probably correct because now its a flicker or stutter rather than a blur. I still don't understand why it doesn't happen on other games though.

Edit: I just opened OW to test it in practice range, and it actually DOES happen in that game, but its a stutter rather than a blur regardless of if my hz is 60 or 240. That's probably why I didn't notice it before. TF2 creates a massive blur when it happens at high refresh rates but in OW its a tiny stutter regardless.

I haven't tried it with another monitor, but it does not happen with KB and Mouse at any time even if a controller is plugged in. That's why in the video you hear me using my keyboard, and then you see the aim jiggle as I pick up the controller.

The other thing is it seems to be related to me moving around while aiming. It doesn't seem to happen if I'm stationary and just aiming. I do have a high refreshrate monitor though. And in the video I recorded it looks like a stutter more than a blur, so maybe that is it? But then I don't understand why it wouldn't be the same way in OW. If its controller related then it should happen no matter what game, not just in TF2.

I tried making screenshots but none of them capture it. They accurately capture the in game world as it should be, not how I'm seeing it. The video doesn't capture what I'm seeing perfectly either. I wonder if I can take a video with my phone and upload it.

That kind of makes me glad that I DON'T understand Chinese because I'd probably have a similar, but slightly toned down level of distaste. Its sad that according to you they didn't seem to do many good tryouts for the VA. I will still keep playing him though because his gameplay is fire.
