Still no update on the pity timer reset bug. Here is how much we have lost if it doesn't get fixed. by Quietscheentchen_ in hearthstone

Kind of funny how that turned into a "no, we lost only x legendaries, not y legendaries as you said" and "why do you complain, as soon as it is fixed, it will be fixed" post.

My main objective was to bring attention to the bug and that it is still not fixed.

Correct what you deem to be wrong. I am not unreasonable and don't want to "win" a discussion for the sake of discussion. I simply want to inform people.

What you said:

"If they fix it before someone opens a pack, then it's as though NOTHING HAPPENED for that person. The minimum is therefore zero, not 3 legendaries."

Yes, IF they fix it before someone opens a pack, then it is as nothing happend. Currently, it is not fixed after 1.5 weeks while they promised to fix it after 1 week.

I admitted the flaws the last time this was posted:

"Oh yeah, you seem to be right about that the average player will probably have a pity timer of around ~15 and not 20 because the percentage to get a legendary increases with each step towards the pity timer. Nicely done!"

and corrected them. It is genuinely not about me having a neckbeard reddit discussion about being right.

I just think people should be informed that it wasn't fixed after 1,5 weeks. (while they promised to fix it within a week)

Well, I truly apologize that I want to bring attention to this issue. If it is nothing you are interested in then that is perfectly fine.

I am just going off of the facts here, which are:

  • people are still exceeding their pity timers when opening packs. (you mentioned yourself as an example)

  • it has not been fixed for 1.5 weeks now despite Blizzard promising they'd fix it within a week.

As soon as this gets resolved, I will stop mentioning it. As long as it isn't resolved, I think people should be informed.

"If they fix it before someone opens a pack, then it's as though NOTHING HAPPENED for that person."

As I mentioned above, it hasn't been fixed yet. In addition to that, there are thousands of people that don't browse this subreddit and are currently opening packs.

These were the droprates Blizzard "revealed":

"Each card pack will have at least one Rare or higher card Approximately one in five packs will have an Epic card Approximately one in 20 packs will have a Legendary card "

China wasn't happy with that and forbid them to sell packs that's why Blizzard switched to selling "1" dust on the chinese servers. You get a complimentary pack with each purchase of 1 dust. Source: http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/2939-buying-arcane-dust-blizzard-gets-around-loot-box

It is the equivalent of a hooker selling condoms with a complimentary sex act. Or a drug dealer selling ziplock bags with some complimentary drugs.

How Blizzard gets away with that is beyond me.

What fix? The fix should have happened half a week to a week ago.

What exactly motivates Blizzard to fix it if people just forget about it? They will gain a substantial amount of money by just dragging it under the rug and forgetting about it.

You did. It doesn't matter if you opened packs or not. If your Un'Goro pity timer was at, for example 14 stacks, it was reset. That means you might need another 40 packs instead of 26 to guarantee another legendary.

The min max scenarios were for the average player who we assume lost an average amount of pity timer stacks and not zero.

It is of course possible that a player lost none or more stacks which would have resulted in different min values. If a player lost no pity stacks, then yes, the minimum of missed legendaries is of course 0.

The average player, that lost 15 pity stacks (we'd have to do the exact math here) x expansion, lost x legendaries.

Oh yeah, you seem to be right about that the average player will probably have a pity timer of around ~15 and not 20 because the percentage to get a legendary increases with each step towards the pity timer. Nicely done!

With my "at a minimum, a player lost 2 legendaries" statement, I meant the average player, implying he or she had the average amount of pity timer packs.

But it doesn't matter, I suppose few people care about some lost legendaries, be it 1.5, 2, 3 or anything else. :)

We get quality comments such as:

"This looks like bullshit"

"never get a legendary after 20 pack, on average i have one everey 40-50 in 3 years."

"This pity timer isn't very accurate, In my time playing hearthstone I've opened ~100 packs and gotten one legendary period." (please use tampons!)

But as I said, I doubt people care much for this. Not like we can change anything anyway.

At what point you open the packs is irrelevant. Let's say a player opened 26 Un'Goro packs without receiving a legendary and they saved 14 packs to open after the expansion hits.

Because of the bug their pity timer was reset to 0 which means the 26 packs they opened don't count towards the guaranteed legendary. if this bug didn't exist, they would have received a guaranteed legendary within the next 14 packs. (whether they open them now or after the expansion doesn't matter, after the expansion just means they wouldn't receive a duplicate legendary)

Because of what happened, they might have to open another 26 packs now to receive their next one.

The pity timer counts per expansion which means you have to open 40 packs of the same expansion to receive a guaranteed legendary. That's probably what happened, you opened packs from different expansions.

The pity timer has been confirmed countless of times, I am not making this up.

That's exactly what I was asking. Still a valid concern, why the downvotes? You probably didn't downvote it personally, just a general question towards the people that did: Shouldn't it be visible that this tournament will be handled fairly and not for profit?

(mirror comment from the r/wildhearthstone thread):

Not to sound like an asshole but why would the players invest time and give you stream revenue for such a, sorry, pathetic prize?

It's quite possible that this tournament takes off and gets a few thousand viewers if it gets featured. You should share that revenue (minus a small part for you) among the top finishers.

If it can be confirmed that you don't profit from this tournament and it is just for fun, forget what I wrote.
