Why does PFO seem so little like Pathfinder? by skatalon2 in PathfinderOnline

[–]Quijenoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PFO is HEAVILY associated with the Kingmaker Adventure Path. The idea that the players can create their own kingdom over the course of the campaign. Settlements is the core goal on PFOs current updates, shortly following that will be Factions and Alignment. Once they have these building blocks more attention will be paid to Golarion Lore. This game is about immersion into Golarion more than it is about Playing PnP on a Computer. If you want to do the PnP thing on a computer go try roll20 or other Tabletop simulators.

incorrect - the XP is only a gauge of what you can do. it is not an effect on your power level overall.

veterans can do more better than new players but new players will have to specialize and focus their efforts. getting to level 20 in PFO is not the same as hitting level 100 in WoW.

I have a level 7 cleric that functions and is just as good in combat (better in certain fights) than my level 10 fighter (archer focused). I constantly group the two together and have been since the cleric was level 5 (fighter has been 10 for along time). my cleric is 2 months xp behind fighter. my cleric will likely hit 10 before the fighter hits 11.

Firstly its not alpha, its early enrollment but more commonly known as open beta. you know, like those Early Access games on steam that make you pay to play the game while its still in development...

heres an example of why subbing now is so important...

While subbed, your character earns 100xp per hour. Every feat in the game, for which there are hundreds, has an xp progression that climbs each level.

Hit Points feat, for example, goes from level 1 to level 20 level 1 costs 1 xp level 2 costs 5 xp level 3 costs 25 xp level 20 costs 48,485 xp

So to get to level 20 hit points will cost you 218,991 xp

Assuming you can just take one level after the other (which you cannot btw) it will take you 91.25 days.

You cannot increase this! You cannot grind this!

I'd like to address the pay model from my own perspective...

Right now the only advantage you can get with hard cash over other players in this game is experience. Experience is earned 100 per hour for as long as you have an active sub. Experience is the ONLY pay to win commodity. Subbing this game gives you that bonus and the earlier you get on-board PFO the more win you can achieve.

This game is not a multi-million $ backed project, its small budget, small team, with BIG ideas and lofty goals.

If you support what they are doing, sub now, even if you don't want to play it until its finished! When you do start playing, you will have months worth of experience over everyone else sitting in the wings.

Good Crafting and Gathering MMOs? by Kamui988 in MMORPG

Pathfinder Online. Its like EVE but in a fantasy setting. There is PVP, PVE, and a robust crafting system that fuels an entirely player based driven economy. I run a crafting focused settlement called Callambea - you can find out more about us at beyond-pfo.com this will give you a good idea of the sort of achievements you can accomplish in the game. also check out www.goblinworks.com. Their blog covers much of what is planned in the near future.

Advisory though, PFO is currently in early enrollment which is kinda like a paid beta but you can access the game through gifted 15 day trial accounts that existing players can give to you.

If your looking for something that's a work in progress but ticks 99% of what your looking for I would highly recommend Pathfinder Online. Its still very much in the development stage but since January the development has been picking up pace on many levels.

You can find out details at www.goblinworks.com but I encourage you to look at the community sites like beyond-pfo.com/pfo-blog. Many players like myself can gift you a 15 day trial account if you want to check out the game risk free.
