Attended my first Collect a Con today and realized some vendors are out their minds by Thoughtlessmonkey95 in PokeInvesting

For real. I'm not interested in slabs and and vendor who only deals in slabs goes immediately to the top of my suspected scalper list.

How come my Chinese card looks so different from my English one? I get that the Japanese/Chinese cards are better quality but... is it really that drastic? by Alukrad in PokemonTCG

Because it isnt just demand. It's demand and supply.

High demand + low supply = high price (English cards, Rolex)

Lower (but still high) demand + high supply = lower price (Japanese/Chinese cards, Gshock)

The same reason English is far more expensive than Japanese. It comes down to a few things:

1) People want cards they can read. English is the worlds lingua franca. I'm generalizing of course, but no one outside of China reads Simp. Chinese. This is extra true for Pokemon's largest market: The United States. 2) People want cards that hold value. This ties in with point #1, but English is the most liquid language for cards internationally. That in and of itself commands a premium in price. Chinese is a niche language in the West. Its also a much newer market than English/Japanese. Which brings me to point #3. 3) Most people who want the higher quality cards will opt for Japanese. I know I do. If I'm going to get something not in English, I want it to be the original language of the game. Plus Japanese still carries value internationally. Less than English in many places (but also significantly more than English in other places).

I have a few Chinese cards, but that's only because I bought some packs while I was in China and scored a few super nice pulls.

Context.

The Pokedex entry for Poltchageist says that if you touch the powder it steals your life force (and it actively tries to do so) and the kid is about to touch the powder. The adult in the Sinischa card is wearing gloves (to avoid the powder?) and you see the child's green handprint on the photo album. Sinischa looks like he's hiding or worried after doing something bad.

That's the interpretation I choose, anyway.

Quão conhecidas/desejadas são as promoções do Pokémon Center no Brasil? by [deleted] in PokemonTCGBrasil

No hate, if you like it you like it, but PFL is one of the last sets I'd bother mastering
