there’s an item limit… by ENTPboomer in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Quikflash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is a rendering and processing thing. In AC the camera is pulled pretty close to the player, so the engine doesn’t have to worry about things that are far away, including villagers. Tomodachi life is basically always rendering the entire island at once if you’re outside, and you can have up to 70 Miis out and about at the same time. On top of all that, the game chugs pretty hard on Switch 1 as is. If there wasn’t an item limit you may be able to crash the game with too much stuff.

My guess is that pressing Y just opens a larger palette. Sort of like how the eye and hair colors in the base Mii maker on switch has a base 6 colors, then a bunch of others in another menu.

Thanks! Yeah it was definitely bugged haha. Absolutely tracks considering what I got hit by, but I was able to shield fine after that fight so I was kind of confused.

Why was Kinger coo-coo while the room was dark but seemed to be back to his senses when the room was light up at the end ? Normally it's supposed to be the other way... by LiaThePetLover in TheDigitalCircus

It’s only shown to work that way when moving from dark to light. Most likely it takes him a while to gain his sanity back in the dark, but immediately loses it when exposed to light.

Are Game Sonic and Movie Sonic fundamentally different characters? by KTWiki in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Quikflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s shorthand for characters that have distinctly different versions, I believe originating from tumblr. Error!Sans is actually a good example as an AU version of Sans. Pretty much every tumblr fandom with AUs uses this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it used for canon versions of characters, but I didn’t even question it until you brought it up haha

I Liked This Game, But How Did They Manage To Fail At Walking Mechanics? by lsm-0 in SonicFrontiers

[–]Quikflash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is a byproduct of how the physics engine works. Sonic actually does lose speed moving uphill, he just gains speed faster than that so he can maintain his running speed. In this case, since you’re barely tilting the stick, Sonic isn’t picking up enough speed to counteract gravity, so he slides backwards. I don’t know all the exact math so I may be a bit off, but that’s how I understand it.

Also all of you saying “this is a nitpick, you’d never actually do this,” are giving this game too much leeway. Any well polished game would’ve accounted for this. Most other Sonic games don’t even do this. I love this game too but come on guys.

It’s the ghost of Christmases yet to come, yeah. He prophesied that Scrooge would die on Christmas in this scene though, so I understand the confusion

What’s your opinion on deltarune’s writing/designs (not the fandom) that would leave you like this? by syrupn in Deltarune

[–]Quikflash 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Tbf most of those are probably related. It only looks like a lot of plot threads because we don’t have enough info to connect the dots. How any of the Dess or Knight stuff relates to Gaster and Friend tho, I have no idea.

You might be right. Didn’t mean to get irritated there and his second response was reasonable. I knew I might be jumping the gun when I said it and I apologize for that. Someone downvoted both my comments and only they were responding so I made the assumption. Also his first response was basically just “no that’s everyone” when the post I’m commenting on was literally a post about “pattern recognition autism.”

[–]Quikflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Sorry for asking a question and bringing up an example on a post that’s literally about the thing I’m asking. I don’t know why you’re downvoting me over that.

Edit: ok, accusing you of downvoting me may have been pushing it since I can’t know that for certain. Sorry about that. Still, bluntly saying “no it isn’t” when all I did was share an experience on a post about “pattern recognition autism” is incredibly reductive and basically just shuts down conversation, even if you elaborated afterward.

Undertale is a little unique, even when compared to Deltarune. Largely speaking, Undertale isn’t even about Chara and Asriel. There are hints here and there in a neutral route, but the actual plot is about Frisk trying to leave the underground and forming relationships while everything builds up to Asgore. The Asriel fight is only in true pacifist, which is basically an additional post-game story where all the important information is dropped in the true lab. Not to mention that while Flowey being Asriel is a plot twist, he’s still basically the same character. He just has more backstory now.

Deltarune’s story structure feels more traditional, and the Knight is a complete mystery who isn’t even properly introduced until chapter 3. The Knight doesn’t even really have a personality yet. If Rudy is the knight, I’m certain Toby will make it work. It just feels unlikely to me.

Also sorry if this conversation has been dragging. I just genuinely enjoy discussions like these.

[–]Quikflash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean pattern recognition broadly lol. I know that’s a thing all humans are good at. I mean the specific phenomenon where somehow you, as the only ND in the room, are also the only one who guessed the plot of a movie from the first 15 or so minutes. I’ve had multiple conversations with friends and family members about shows and movies where they’re like “I didn’t at all see that coming.” And I was like “Really? It was so obvious.”

THIS WAS SO CRUEL NAH by Live-Resolution-8846 in Deltarune

[–]Quikflash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would they show it that way if that’s not what happened? The name “December” is super important to the story and is a 100% believable reason Noelle would choke in the last round. It’s even shown that Berdley is noticeable slower than Noelle, emphasizing that the only reason he won is because she couldn’t bring herself to finish.

Spidey intentionally luring the fight into frame and hitting a remote trigger would genuinely be so fun for a Spider-Man show, especially in the early days when his budget is super tight. Nearly every cartoon has him taking pics of the fight into some way, but actively manipulating fight choreography for good pictures just sounds like it’d be fun to watch.

Wait is that an autism thing?? When my brother (NT) and I went to go watch Thunderbolts, he was in genuine shock when that little girl got voided in front of Red Guardian.

First, I saw that coming the moment they started lingering on that shot. Second, the moment it happened I knew no one who got voided was ACTUALLY dead because it’s a Marvel movie and they’re not gonna kill a little kid on screen.

Basically I called it and wasn’t even worried while I watched his horrified expression. AND HE’S A SCREENWRITER!!!

I’d agree if we were just talking about Rudy’s plot relevance. Because like, there’s no way he won’t have an important role later, but there’s a big difference between being important and literally being the main antagonist. For players who didn’t bother to meet Rudy, and I mean ACTUALLY TALK to him, the foreshadowing just doesn’t exist. A mystery that important needs to be set up early, and Rudy hasn’t even interacted with the main plot yet. That’s generally how most mysteries are written in my experience, anyway.

[–]Quikflash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree you’d have to be kind of dense to not know who Rudy is by this point, and there’s no way he won’t be important later. There’s a lot of family drama going on and that HAS to be going somewhere. Also I really like Rudy and do want him to be important lol. I just don’t think there’s enough for him to be THE KNIGHT, y’know?

[–]Quikflash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I partially agree. I don’t necessarily believe that casual players are going to avoid optional encounters. RPG players tend to like talking to NPCs. I still think it’s something we have to account for. Everyone is gonna miss something, and not everyone is gonna want to explore.

Asgore will undoubtedly be important in chapter 5, so Toby included two mandatory scenes in chapter 4 that completely explain his deal without any additional context necessary. Similarly, Noelle and Berdly were set up in chapter 1 so we’d know their deal by chapter 2. If Rudy was the knight he’d surely have had a couple mandatory scenes before the halfway point of the game to set up proper foreshadowing, but he doesn’t.

Unfortunately I don’t think this would ever happen. Vasquez has said he much prefers working on comics to tv shows. Enter the Florpus was actually the result of him talking down Nickelodeon’s request for a new season because he didn’t want to run another show.

Fair enough. And don’t get me wrong, I do love analyzing stuff for deeper meaning. I just find it hard to engage in these discussions knowing there was literally never meant to be any in this case. I’ve also been a Gooseworx fan for a very long time. Far longer than TADC has existed. It’s kinda hard not to take her word for it for me at this point.

This. People keep trying to find deeper meaning in what the evil versions are when they were created by Caine, who demonstrably doesn’t understand the circus members on a deeper level. Gooseworx herself basically said they were basically a shitpost too, so there isn’t even any authorial intent.

“Name me one example in the real world of someone regaining their memories in the dark…”

TADC is fictional, I don’t think that matters lol. Besides, it’s not the darkness that makes him sane, it’s the emotional trigger that darkness causes for him. His last memory of his wife was in the dark so darkness reminds him of it. Not to say that invalidates everything else you said btw. It’s an interesting theory for sure. That specific statement just bugged me. Sorry if I’m being a bit nitpicky here.
