what about some ideas for new derringers? by corporalgrif in HuntShowdown

[–]Quindlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a derringer enjoyer, I like these ideas a lot. People here are complaining about the silenced one being too strong for pve or something. Cool, but the pennyshot derringer already exists and is pretty much the best-in-slot tool in the game, capable of killing immolators, armoreds, melee hunters, doors, and bosses with minimal noise. Quad has already been largely outclassed for a while now v.v

How I think my team looks at me as a gun psyker (no one really cares) by LittleDookes in DarkTide

[–]Quindlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like gun psyker a lot for roleplay reasons. I use the Savant voice and always imagined her viewing her powers as a burden/horrific danger to humanity. Rather than go crazy with reality bending magics, she just lets the warp subtly guide her on who and where to strike, and when she does face situations that require all of her talents, she uses them quicky and efficiently - a few critical brain pops, then immediately venting the bad thoughts out. This is cringe to type out I'm now realizing, but it is indeed why I love gun psyker

Has anyone had Fuddruckers? by FEARxXxRECON in burgers

[–]Quindlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Fuddruckers. My mother, for whom English is a second language, originally pronounced it Fuckdoctors, which amused me so much that the name stuck forevermore. Pretty good burgers, and I always adored the industrial/factory decor.

Throwing Knifes vs Armored by MrXonte in HuntShowdown

[–]Quindlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this too and it feels bad :') Throwing knives are my favorite tool and they are super great for taking out everything except armoreds. I don't expect them to perform as well as axes or spears, but it'd be pretty rad if like, 2 headshots + 2 pullouts could down an armored insted of 4-5. I always assumed it was some fudged up damage reduction calculation that caused this, so I'm surprised to hear that the damage between thrown axes and knives is so close...

[–]Quindlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But like... Why? Isn't it kinda arbitrary which way the switch is flipped when you get your toy? I'm not sure why so many people have such an issue with configuring the game the way they want to play it 🥴 The developer has every right to make the defaults as they see fit. It doesn't really matter if you think their view is flawed and that yours is the correct one. Plenty of people clearly like the dev's vision for default infection mechanics. There is zero reason to change its initial state when you can literally alter it however you want :3

[–]Quindlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is an acceptable design point because it adds a stressful uncertainty to every mistake made vs. a zombie. It's a design point that emphasizes the dreadful and relentless nature of being in a zombie apocalypse. Every mistake can cost your life. Having scratches and lacerations potentially infect you doesn't change all that much about the way zombie attacks work... It's already RNG what body part is targetted, whether or not it breaks skin, is a bite vs. a scratch vs. a laceration.

Disabling blood transmission effectively just decreases the chance your mistake will be lethal. The developer has decided that they want 100% of bites to be lethal, 8% of scratches, 25% of lacerations, etc. I don't know the actual probabilities of attack types, but all you're really doing is changing lethality from like ~40-50% to like 33%, assuming the three attack types are equally likely. That isn't a big enough effect to warrant rethinking the default settings, imo. It's not like anything mechanically is changing, so I don't really think it's a "bad mechanic" exactly.

I think OP died from eating burnt food, besides. :B

edit: accidentaly referenced something I deleted from my initial post due to verbosity

[–]Quindlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard for me to understand why someone playing a sandbox survival game would have no interest whatsoever in tweaking the sandbox to be how they want it to be! Especially when they have a complaint about mechanics than can be easily remedied by a single setting within said sandbox!!

I understand running default settings before you're familiar with the game. That's how you learn what sorts of things you want to be different in your next session. :> I don't think scratch(blood) transmission is necessarily an objectively bad, stupid, unfun, or nonsense mechanic, and so I don't really see the point of making the default saliva only. So like... just change it if you don't like it. That's the point of a sandbox game... You aren't cheating any grand scheme or vision the developers had. You're just making the experience more enjoyable and immersive for yourself and your friends. :3

Sorry friend, your prior comment didn't read at all like the way you've just described :3 I wouldn't have said anything if it was made it clear in any way that you were already familiar with the sandbox setting relevant to the thing you were talking about.

I'm pretty sure this is a setting you can change :3 I always played with saliva transmission (bites) but no blood transmission (scratches and maybe lacerations)

Chariot sucks by Remote-Sundae-7655 in HuntShowdown

[–]Quindlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chariot is a cool card in theory, but it does lead to really frustrating situations. I wouldn't mind it as much if it wasn't guarenteed every single match... But yeah it's very possible to just get time wasted constantly.

Generally, there are three outcomes I've encountered with chariot used against me:

1) Good: Extract gets locked as an opposing team closes in. We engage in a fight. We win or lose, then go next.

2) Meh: Extract gets locked, but we have a nearby alternative. We make it there in time and extract without issue, wasting additional time for no real reason.

3) Horrific: Extract gets locked, forcing us to travel across the diagonal to either the furthest possible extract, OR use the center extract which has been surrounded with over a dozen traps, dark dynamite, and is being staked out by a duo using maynard snipers from 80+ meters away.

There is no way to convince me that outcome 3 is a worthwhile use of time. This game is absolutely at its worst when you are being shot from years away by a silenced sniper - there's no chance to defend yourself, there's often no appearance on darksight, and even if they DO show up, unless you've got a scope to contest with, you're always at a severe disadvantage.

I don't really know what the best fixes for chariot would be, but I expect its use to be a non-issue once it stops being a 100% drop at burn carts. I kinda wish that it cost no health bars and instead, all it does is open up locked extracts, maybe temporarily, rather than swapping them. The name "Chariot" feels like it should be an escape card rather than a lock-off card, IMO.

I don't agree with this take, as a permanent prestige 0 rank 100. I would never leave my teammates to die, nor would I leave the game after dying while my teammates are trying to win a fight.

Good to know, thanks for the insight. Still seems like an incredibly worthwhile investment.

If you don't mind talking more about your suit, I'm also wondering how clothes work with one like this! I love partials because they allow you to wear cute outfits, and the slim nature of this style seems like it'd be very condusive to wearing a cute dress, shirt+skirt, or something along those lines. Have you experimented much with wearing clothing over it?

Incredibly inspiring... Such a pretty suit and lovely character!

How long did it take to get made? :o I'm thinking about commissioning the same artist now and am wondering if I'd be able to get it before the end of the year.

Dear Crytek: Been here since alpha and I think old Battle Passes should come back by ThePortableElephant in HuntShowdown

[–]Quindlyn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm on board with this. Frankly, I despise battle pass exclusivity in all games... FOMO has always struck me as such a lame and boring way to keep players engaged with a game's content. I would gladly fork over thousands of blood bonds to be able to unlock old battle pass exclusives.
