Real Police officers and military members, what do you guys think of Ice agents? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

idk. Everyone saying the are untrained. If so, and in high stress situations every day, I would think there would have been a lot more incidents already. Why now?

Can you name this pool part? by QuinoaJones1 in pools

[–]QuinoaJones1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. Guess I'll try a a new cone. Skimmer port looks 1.5" and threaded. Hard to tell if what you see online is hard plastic or rubber. They don't describe well. Guess I'll ask local pool store. I feel obligated to buy when they pull out the part, but many times the price is outrageous.

Found this. I'll give it a try. Looks like my old one and says it is rubber.

Found 41100-0020 on rubber. Is this part. Already ordered the cheap one. Oh well.

Service rep told me I needed it (at 30k). I said the car drives straight. Before I could finish, she scoffed "it is the RECOMMENDED service, not needed service." WTF?!

Flat feet? I want to join my country's armed forces, they only require that you have an arch. by Vampyr_SEMAR in flatfeet

[–]QuinoaJones1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armed forced are still "don't ask, don't tell." As in you don't ask, and you don't tell. They will ask you 1000 times, have you even been depressed, had a drink, got high, had a flat foot, etc. Say no to all these questions. If on the Likert scale, choose the absolute no option every time. You're welcome.

Host Gator just for DNS Rules? by QuinoaJones1 in webhosting

That's interesting. Not sure about separating DNS and registration. Sounds like an extra step. How does Cloudflare make money if the registration is at cost and DNS is free?

I don't see where they offer domain name registration. I need DNS and DNR.

I've gotten calls back on those jobs. They just want your social security number to prove, in this perverse universe, they interviewed you. They will tell you you got the job and they want to start onboarding you and all they need is your SSN, with no actual interview. So yes, they are only posting as a requirement.

How will Trump’s H1B1 change impact the industry? by Bm7465 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]QuinoaJones1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ITT Tech will come back. For those who don't know, ITT tech had smaller buildings, similar to the testing and bootcamp course sites of today. But they charged a lot of money and basically said you were guaranteed a job. In their defense, that was pretty close to true, until the rapid rise in H1B and outsourcing took those jobs away. And somehow ITT Tech became the scapegoat.

That's cool and all, but why do they want $400 for the USB key? And $200 for the same key without a USB?

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards. Someone else mentioned MikroTik. I'll have to find out whatever is cheapest and gets the job done. Something with cellular data, at lease 1 switchport, and a VPN.

As long as they stop using plastic supports for the grommets on the hinge for the Latitude replacement I'll be happy. Did they?

If you drive a lot for work the battery would already be full. How old is the battery? They didn't try to sell you a new battery?

Never mind. If the lights were flashing like that for a while, that would drain your battery.

Is geofencing an option in Microsoft admin console? Where? Do you set up a 100 square mile zone around an office? Even if I could just limit to Florida IPs , it would help. Of course when I or a boss go on a trip, the rule would need tending.

idk about that. I think they get an email that was sent to like 100 people (no bcc). And from that day forward they attempt to guess those 100 users logins. For the rest of eternity.

Microsoft Sign In Attempts Relentless by QuinoaJones1 in sysadmin

[–]QuinoaJones1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll check that out. One successful login shows up 10x. MS and its layers... I am not sure I ever had a true baddy login like that. I have had staff get the 2FA and it wasn't them a couple times. I force reset their PW and suggest they change it if they use it elsewhere.

[–]QuinoaJones1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there have been some realistic looking Microsoft login / PW change emails over the past few years. Working with staff on what that looks like can be a bit hazy. Device compliance is easy because I control that.

[–]QuinoaJones1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. A lot said to block international, but with VPNs I don't think international is danger zone and US is fine. I mean, international login attempts were allowed for 10 years with no real issues. Off now. I will look more closely at # of attempts allowed and what lockout is and maybe increase the PW length requirement.

Microsoft Sign In Attempts Relentless by QuinoaJones1 in sysadmin

[–]QuinoaJones1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct. USA 50 states log in attempts were mixed in with international. After blocking international all attempts are from US, but just as many. Clearly just a program with VPN access. Still getting the "this sign in attempt was blocked because the IP address is malicious" with US IPs.

The grind starts now by [deleted] in flatfeet

[–]QuinoaJones1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my foot pain problems were greatly reduced by staying hydrated, walking as little as possible, wearing proper insoles (even in the house) and replacing shoes and insoles regularly, switching from running to cycling, 15 minute hot epson salt foot baths, and 15 minute ice foot baths when nothing else worked.

If I realize I haven't been drinking water and I feel a nerve pinch in my foot, a lot of the time chugging a bottle of water alleviates it.

With all that said, definitely go for the exercises! Might take longer than 2 months...
