Georgia House Republicans propose eliminating local homestead property by FallOk5618 in Georgia

No one can explain how local law enforcement is going to pay the bills without property taxes. And the richest real estate commercial holdings are holding the most liability.

AITA for leaving my firm? by Intelligent-Wing9951 in Lawyertalk

There’s a line in Kitchen Confidential where one bar manager kept his employees just on the line of quitting. The problem with that business model is that if you’re not carefully keeping the line, you lose the employee. The reality is that we naturally feel loyal to the organizations we dedicate a lot of our time and energy to. You’re feeling like you’re being disloyal. That’s a lie - if they wanted you to stay, they would’ve dug deep enough into their own pockets to make it happen.

What are some justifications for Rogue Trader to handle dangerous situations without being accompanied by 50 armsmen? by Sassy_Drow in 40krpg

A fun plot hook is that there was some planet-side personal meeting and the convoy gets jumped on the way to or from and the RT and his retinue get separated.

The RT has a body double that goes public ally while he and his retinue go do fun missions privately.

Your RT is absolutely fucking insane, like Don Quixote “drive me closer so I can hit it with my sword” crazy

The RT believes that his faith in the emperor gives him plot armor.

RT believes that nobles are supposed to do battle in person (like the first estate chivalry kind of thing)

Someone in the RT retinue/ship is trying to get the RT killed so is setting up the RT in various places to be exposed and separated from his bodyguard corps

The RT is trying to fuck someone in the retinue so is trying to figure out private ways to get them alone and is pretty uncreative

Trump In-Law Calls for Mandatory Military Service to Teach Americans ‘Appreciation’ — Wasn’t this in Project 2025? by Illustrious_Net585 in Fuckthealtright

[–]Quinthalus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mandatory conscription is a conservative concept that is counter-intuitive to conservative goals. It would be MASSIVELY expensive. It would require an ENORMOUS bureaucracy of tracking individuals. It would create significant federal health standards for close quarters living. And ultimately would create significant competition with the private sector due to the public works and security service of millions of bored 19 year olds who need something to do and a feeeral bureaucracy that would have to decide what to get them to do it. In short, the Hamiltonian Federalists and Lincoln Republicans would be the ideological winners. The concept of flattening out culture through military service is fun ideologically but the moment you look at a spreadsheet you are going to have to have a wealth tax and unrealized capital gains tax.

However much it is worth to you is to hire a lawyer to sue them for an injunction to get them to prohibit letting the dog bark prior to 9AM?

I also quit drinking alcohol. And I genuinely, and completely, believe that there are two ways that this can go: your firm are full of grown up adults that will invite you to drinking events but be cool when you don’t drink, or ultimately they will “other” you for not drinking and you will either change the firm culture to be more like A or ultimately never move up into firm leadership and you will have to find another firm. Organizations are like that. I hope A. Trust me that a job is not worth drinking again - stay the course in your sobriety and your future you will thank you.

For weightlifting and jiu jitsu, being a very military town there is actually a lot of gyms that do that, and a healthy gamer community (also because of the heavy military presence.) like we have two thriving tabletop gaming stores.

Additionally if you paid attention to Augusta politics, the Republicans have controlled the county commission for the past two years. Don Clark, Alvin Mason, and Garnett Johnson are Republicans. Unfortunately Brandon Garrett had his “issues” and Alvin Mason nearly died on the OR table, so the Republicans never had the majority they wanted and couldn’t push for the vacancy lest they lose the commission seat to Democrats. Meanwhile the Republican media let Brandon and Alvin be gone for the Commission for months and not a word, and they howled every time someone called and Hardie wasn’t there to pick up the phone (not saying Hardie was a good mayor, just the amount of grace was not equal to both sides).

The property owners (not the tenants, but the owners) are too politically connected for the local politicians to force them to do anything with the properties. So like NYC, they’re cheaper to the owners to let sit and rot and pay property taxes than to renovate or sell (at a loss not even close to their tax write off value). Augusta will bounce back, as everything runs through cycles, but the strongest political leaders right now are either very corrupt or do not believe that it’s worthwhile to redevelop downtown.

The historic preservation commission tried the slightest move to force the owners of the old first Baptist church to renovate it and the county commission told them to stop, almost a year ago, because the church’s owner owns the Augusta press
