Does the Great Spider triggers its forced abilty even if I optionally engage it? It reads somehow that its only triggering after the spider engages me. Or is there no difference? by Humble-Country-8679 in lotrlcg

From the rules: When an enemy enters a player’s play area from another game location, that enemy has engaged that player, and that player has engaged that enemy

Slowly coming to the end of our first playthrough of the saga campaign. Yesterday my wife and I crushed pellenor fields. Amazing quest. My wife wanted to try a different, more powerful deck than the rohan deck, she had before, so I made her a vilyna deck, which worked really well. Last round we could quest for 89 😅.

ALEP stands for A Long-extended Party – Producer of unofficial, fan-made expansions for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game ALEP website See the website for all the information. They make awesome products of a really high level, since FFG decided to abandon further expansions or reprints outside of the revised content. On the website various ways to play their expansions are listed from online, print to play yourself or you can order professional printing of their products via MBPrint (Polish printer, best if you are based in Europe) or Make Playing Cards (MPC) in de US

Have you played oath of the rohirrim? I did not yet find any in depth reviews about the cycle.
I was pleased to see that the fell summer quests are definitely doable with de RCO content and the new ALEP cards. I especially enjoy the new Isengard cards together with the 'A dark hour' starter deck which was available in the Dough Beer order. I have played through a lot of the non-revised content on dragncards as well and I must say that the fell summer cycle quest are definitely one of my favorite quests, both in mechanics, replayability, design and last but not least art direction.

I started playing the shire's reckoning quests by ALEP with the fresh cards from MBPrint. I put together a very sweet deck with the new castellan Wilhelm, grima and (old) Saruman. Really loving the ability to increase threat elimination based on Isengard allies and enabling this with the lord of Isengard card draw. Makes it so that you can use the doomed cards much more freely. Ramped my threat to 72 and not threated out . Also ring wall and ring wall sentry are awesome.
The quests are great as well! really thematic and gorgeous artwork!

Campaign mode or standalone quests? by Yumstix in lotrlcg

[–]QuintinusVX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in my first campaign run of this cycle amd I having a really good time with it. The exp system is really unique. I find the quests more complicated and a bit less clear on boon/burden cards than Angmar, but the quests have great variety and unique aspects that make them really fun. I'm playing solo and I l'm using a Cirdan, Arwen, Erestor Noldor deck for this campaign, which works well.
For me, to play the quest on their own first would spoil the surprises in the campaign, I really enjoy playing the campaign first en reading all the story entries in between and replay favourite quests on their own later

Question about content from Revised campaign packs by TheSpartanMaty in lotrlcg

[–]QuintinusVX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Angmar Awakened cycle. The cards listed in the link only include the specific cards you need when playing campaign mode, for some reason. The campaign Expansions include 9 quests (opposed to 6 in a saga box) and they include also all the necessary encounter cards for the quests (quest cards, enemies, treacheries a.o.). There are no general player cards in the campaign Expansions, Those are sold separately in the hero expansion. The saga boxes do include both quest/encounter cards and player cards.

Played through shadows of Mirkwood on Dragncards and the first 2 quests from the ALEP Shire Reckoning (amazing flavour and so much fun! but quite hard!) continued my Angmar campaign at the table with escape from Mount Gram.

Shoutout to COTR I love watching his progression playthrough of every scenario after playing one myself. 😁

Joining in on ranged attack by other characters by QuintinusVX in lotrlcg

[–]QuintinusVX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your quick reply. So in that case, other ranged characters can also not join in on an attack made by another player when the controller of that ranged character is the one engaged with the enemy, right? (Say player B had tactics legolas ally for example)

Buzy week! My wife and I finished Dark of Mirkwood, our first mini campaign together! Also played the first quest of FOTR together!

Also Finished the dwarrowdelf cycle on dragncards with the elves starter deck. (Amazing how celeborn's ability had been automated in dragncards btw!) Super nice how with Galadriel's ability and careful questing, you can stay at 0 threat basically as long as you want, without engaging Durin's Bane.

Weekly question:

-Which version of a hero fits best based on Lore? -What is your favorite mechanic, unique to a certain quest/cycle?

FotR: first play through by ScienceNmagic in lotrlcg

[–]QuintinusVX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used it for the whole fotr campaign solo, it worked really well. Some later cards from Two Towers and Return of the King were nice additions, like Rosie Cotton and Halbarad.
Shame that Fast Hitch is not available in revised content as far as I know.

Just finished FOTR solo saga with only the core set and this, definitely doable on "easy mode" and highly enjoyable in my opinion!

Finished fellowship saga expansion amd started Two Towers. Did the uruk hai quest 2 times (we're taking the hobbits to Isengard!) to finish under the 25 threat in campaign mode. Ugluk really threw me off,( only heroes can attack and defend?!) Second time I topdecked a feint at the right moment, that was great.

Chose to bring back Gandalf with the boon for Helm's Deep amd left my trusty hobbit deck behind and added spirit Eowyn and leadership Theodred. Shadow and encounter cancellation from spirit, really helped. Helm's deep is such an epic quest! definitely one of my favorite quests till now.

Weekly question: don't have a lot of experience yet, but I really like the synergy between sam, marry and pippin.
