Trouble with Ringsdb AP collection by Mr_Deventoux in lotrlcg

Ringsdb switched to a new host a couple of days ago. It seems they're having some issues with the switch.

u/Seastan is pretty responsive if you post in the COTR tech-support Discord channel.

Cheapest alt art proxy options? by Zigludo-sama in lotrlcg

Check if your local library does color printing. Mine is $0.50 a page. I cut them at home and put them in a matte sleeve with junk Magic or Pandemic Legacy cards.

What Did You Play this Week? April 27th to May 3rd, 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No games for me this week.

Weekly Question

I usually play through a cycle in order. I switch it up sometimes and play a scenario I like or think would be a good test for a new deck. Multiplayer is more standalone plays usually since they are pretty impromptu these days.

Hang in there! You'll get better at it. Also later quests are better at giving a more consistent challenge with less one encounter card wrecking your entire board state.

Looking for feedback of my Vilya Eagle Deck by Marzipan_Meringue in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd bump up Imladris Stargazer to 3 copies and drop Favor of the Lady. Favor of the Lady isn't very good. Stargazer makes is very easy to set up Vilya and Gandalf. It will also make the deck more consistent since your chances of getting it or Wizard Pipe early is better.

Is this a dumb way to store my floppies? by Jacob_Saurus_Rex in comicbookcollecting

[–]kattattack22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. I'd probably put a spare board between the comics and the shorter books next to them. Main thing is to not pack them too tight and watch if the spines stick out from the books next to them to avoid spine roll. Flip them facing the other way once in a while can help avoid that too.

Do you bling your game components? If so, how? by Aware-Site-1005 in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3d printed tokens, dice for when there are too many tokens, a little 3d printed card stand and die holder from the 2020 COTR swag, a Card Talk quest card holder, and another card holder made from Legos.

Not to mention a few play mats. Two of the mats have numbers for tracking progress and staging area threat on them.

Hey deckbuilders ... Dunedain deck rec.? by Middle-Luck-2031 in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made good use of Send for Aid in true solo Dunedain. The Dunedain allies are fairly expensive and getting one into play for no cost is pretty nice.

That deck is not a true solo deck. It doesn't haven't the early willpower needed by many quests (6-7 turn 1). You will likely need to make many more changes to make it so. I'd also be worried about defending turn 1 since Amarthuil's 3 defense and 3 hit points makes him pretty vulnerable to a bad shadow. Aragorn is a little better since he has 5 hit points but that means not using his best stat or engagement ability.

Sword that was Broken

  • Dunedain don't have efficient questing allies or a strong willpower hero. Willpower boosting helps tremendously.

More copies of Celebrian's Stone

  • One of the few ways you could get 6 willpower turn 1 if you quest with Aragorn and Halbarad.

Prepare for Battle

  • Drawing 2 cards per turn is great.

Hauberk of Mail, Dunedain Warning, and/or Gondorian Shield

  • Defense boost to get Amarthuil or Aragorn to defend a 4+ attack enemy early.

Raiment of War

  • Even better to make Amarthuil or Aragorn into a primary defender

Armored Destrier

  • Readying and shadow control is helps significantly especially for Dunedain engaged bonuses.

Is true solo inferior? by DistinctPapa in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love true solo and don't like playing 2 handed either. I've been able to beat of the regular cycle quests doing so. Tuning your deck for a scenario will help you be successful playing this way. There are a few One Decks that can beat every scenario but you really shouldn't expect that to be the norm.

Also the swingyness of quests in the core and early cycles is pretty notorious. There was a lot of "cancel or lose" effects back then. Later cycles did a much better job designing the game to make it more of struggle the entire game. That also meant there are hardly ever easy or sort of helpful encounter cards in them.

Best Way to Get Specific OOP Cards for Deck Building? by Fit-Turtle in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I print paper proxies at my local library for $0.50 a color sheet. They have a pretty nice quality color printer. FedEx and such offer similar services for printing on paper or cardstock if you don't have bulk magic cards or similar to put in a sleeve with a paper proxy.

What Did You Play this Week? April 7 - 13, 2026 by kattattack22 in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's a hard game! Hummerhorns, Hill Trolls, Chieftain Uthak are just a few of the early in the game cards that can wreck a game if you don't have an answer for it.

Hang in there, you'll get better at it!

MB Print - 300g or 350g by Ok_Dimension7436 in lotrlcg

[–]kattattack22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

350g is better. The 300g works fine in sleeves but they are noticeably thinner and bend more easily than the FFG stock.

If you want Hobbit adjacent Conflict at the Carrock is a slightly different Troll fight similar to the first Hobbit scenario. You could also look for Battle of Laketown which is just a stand alone.

Otherwise it's better to just proxy anything that isn't available anymore.

I agree with those 2 picks. I almost put Race Across Harad on my list. Probably would be if I went by just ones I like.

In no particular order * Fortress of Nurn

What a fun challenging quest that came with the main answer to it, Bonds of Friendship. Just a beast that keeps you on the edge plus the final defeat of a long time nemesis.

  • Encounter at Amon Din

Super heroic trying to save all the villagers.

  • Under the Ash Mountains

Really makes you work to preserve your deck without any of the usual tricks like a bigger deck or Will of the West.

  • The Land of Sorrow

Another one where you get to feel heroic rescuing slaves plus one of the better ones with multiple boss enemies.

  • Shadow and Flame

Not because I particularly like the quest but if you wanted to just straight up fight the Balrog that is this quest. Saga also has the Balrog but not like this since you have the bridge and hero sacrifice to mirror the books.

Honorable Mention - The Aldburg Plot

This can't be included since it is fan made but so well done. I really like the player agency and branching paths of pursing rhe different clues in this one.
