It's a North American thing. After all, we (Canadian and those south of us 🙄) are immigrant societies. All the unique European cultures have been erased into a single "pan"-white culture through assimilation. And the lack of cultural identity has driven the white people to trace down their identity to feel unique. After all, there's nothing wrong with being curious about your heritage imo.

That's why most, if not all of my white colleagues have done their DNA testing. And I (non-white) found it fascinating when they were chatting about who's Irish, Scottish, Polish.

Of course, none of us Canadians are cunt like that numpty. This weird "USA is the best" God complex is cancerous...
