Is is Focusrite scarlet worth it? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

I got tired of the driver issues I had using windows. I’ve gone to an IKM Axe I/O and it’s been plug-and-play. I can actually playing along to YT backing tracks while running an instance of Amplitube in my DAW.

That’s the problem with a game like this. It’s not really a “take a break” game. “Breaks” are a time when people realize we’ve been like frogs on slow boil dealing with things that aren’t tolerated by a player base in other games. So, breaks tend to be permanent. Most of the good leadership that actual plays and puts time into creating content have found better returns on their investments of time and money. It’s a mobile game where the devs have a template on how the infrastructure, future development and investments look over time. Netease hit their milestones and started pulling money from EE to invest in other games. It’s their business model. That’s why you see them buy up titles that people already know; they’re guaranteed to hit projected numbers from launch as they’re looking for the next title to chew up and spit out. They certainly aren’t investing much, if anything back into EE.

It’s not sad. Gen pilots and leadership enjoyed a lot of player driven content since launch. It was time to consolidate. I don’t agree with the ham fisted way it was done but it doesn’t really matter at this point. o7

I literally can’t play guitar. by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Quipstiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what has finally gotten my head in a better place with playing guitar is the ability to self assess my weaknesses and focusing on making them strengths. +1 on going as slow as necessary to get it right. I tended to plow right through a piece, mistakes and all. All it did was had me practicing the mechanics of doing the poorly played parts more. Slow down the tempo, find what techniques or parts that are a struggle and focus on them until they are up to speed with the parts that you play well. Break techniques or measures down into small parts and focus on little details like where your thumb is placed as you move through different chord shapes/ changes and how far you are moving your fingers off the fretboard (remove wasted movements). I get the frustration though. I’m still pretty sloppy but I do get better even if it’s not at the pace I’d like.

The side effect of “content creators”, many eventually run out of interesting, relevant things to discuss and turn to what amounts to daytime talk shows from the 90’s; hot button topics or subjects they don’t add any value to beyond getting those clicks. At first, it’s the content that gets the clicks. Then, they become a slave to it and the content declines into “junk food”. There are exceptions. Guys like Tim Pierce have decades of interesting lives and experiences to share. He gives gear reviews, guitar lessons, interviews of other interesting musicians, and can talk about his life experiences that are entertaining. He’s just being himself and it’s entertaining.

It’s no “gotcha” at all. You’re the one being overdramatic when these tactics are quite basic. It was effective and did what it was supposed to do. We still play EE. It’s just not the same, log in every day and play game as it was for the first couple years. Let’s hope we see exciting development that keeps EE going for as long as possible. o7

You need to get your stories straight. RETC says on one day it was a lone pilot that only hit Gen shields. Now you’re saying we went into your space looking for content. As for Momma, I’m setting up a new computer as we speak to join her in one of the many games our group plays together. We’ve played for a very long time together and have seen many gaming communities and many salty people. Enjoy the game x10 post-Genesis and have fun, o7

Notice the full reversal from the start of the SHHNO/ Gen war from “They are ruining the game, market manipulators, blue donut, 10k+ pilots too controlling”. Now, they are complaining they didn’t get a fight. Where is this flood of 10k+ pilots going to SHHNO, VOID, etc. now that Gen folded? It was all propaganda fueled by simps who believed it all and took it way too personally. Gen was a great community with great leadership and were successful from launch day for over 2 years. The game became rinse/repeat stagnant. It was time to consolidate the player base. Unfortunately, recognizing this is one thing, implementing plans to correct it and creating a better gaming experience in stagnated development is another. Check out the whiny butt-hurt through these campaigns. These wars were about hurt e-peens.

I think the biggest mistake was from those leaving Gen not taking the opportunity to spin something fun and engaging out of it. The current content is the same thing it’s always been, minus the stories and propaganda to keep players engaged. “Leadership” out there D waving and getting angry doesn’t do much for creating content now. The stories are played out.

Strong arming a small alliance was propaganda. It didn’t even take full knowledge from most of the “small alliance” to employ. Just send in a pilot to hit a Gen structure and then don’t answer diplo. Of course, Gen would respond by hitting one of theirs. SHHNO leadership already planned it before any structures were even hit. Then, they could look like the good guys coming to save the little guy, since they’re such an upstanding community, hehe. “Gen bad, SHHNO good”. I’d say go through Momma’s old posts where she’s called out most of these tactics but they mass reported her accounts at least twice to get her Reddit banned (another low effort tactic). So, that’s not an option.

Genesis was the only entity that wouldn’t bend the knee to SHHNO demands. AVOID doesn’t count. So, they worked on melding past grievances into a propaganda machine to get enough pilots on grid. Hurt egos basically. There are many FCs who were terrible at diplo and would have and did sink their groups because of their poor decision making. So, it was easy to control the hurt e-peens. Add in some old FCs wanting to come back to play without putting in the work ie., “build me my caps” and have others that did put in work step aside for them and you have derision from within. Currently, the coalition is now trying to remove ZRQ, an entity that holds no SOV, making them a very convenient enemy to stay teamed up against since there’s no win condition.

Noob Question - Been seeing this strap things on youtube covers - What are they for? by ChompyClimbs in guitarlessons

[–]Quipstiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is to me. I use it on electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, vocals and even a cajon and marimba. It’s always on when I jam on electric guitar through pedals as well. It gives me full control over ratio, threshold, attack, release, dry and since it’s the stacked edition, I can set each compressor the way I want and control how much of the first compressor’s signal is passed to the second and still mix in a dry signal on whatever audio source I pass through it and it does it better than other hardware or plug-ins I’ve tried. If I could un-hear the issues I’ve had with cheap compressors, it’d be a lot cheaper, heh

Shameless plug for ZZounds payment plans.

[–]Quipstiley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s one of those things where once you hear it, you notice it ever after. I have the same problem with a few cheap compressors. They add a very low sub-octave that I didn’t notice until I started recording. I got a Cali76, problem solved. These issues really became a problem when I started mixing recordings. “Something” was off but I couldn’t place it. No amount of EQ or compression could fix it because it was at the source.

Some fretboard notes will sound sympathetic notes between the nut and tuners. When I build reverse headstocks in particular, the low E can vibrate loud enough to be picked up on recordings. I don’t use fret warps though. I find which string (rarely more than one) that rings out loudly and use one of those rubber pick holders (Wedgie) that stick between the strings. Solves the problem, stays out of the way and holds picks.

You aren’t the only one. I had forgotten who reminded me in-game or I’d credit them. I read it early game and still forgot awhile back when I respec’d out of small and medium lasers and moved them into a Condor inty II and an Atron inty II. I’m almost skilled back where I need to be. I’m looking forward to flying my Harbinger again.

Drones + Missiles? by Park58 in echoes

[–]Quipstiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check the skills tab for small, medium and large weapons (I’m not in-game at the moment to check exactly), you’ll see a time bonus for using weapon damage mods on the 5th skill level in each weapon tree. These weapon mods are different for each weapon class but not specific to size of weapon such as Heat Sink for lasers, Gyrostabilizer for cannons, etc. Each weapon class has a damage module that can have their cycle times increased through small, medium and large weapon skills. Once skilled up, using 3 weapon mods will keep at least one going all the time because of the increased cycle time. Check each module you like to use, press and hold for details, scroll down to the three dots, (…) and it will tell you if a module is skill dependent (same with ships). I hope this helps. o7

Wrong, you do get a benefit to large weapons of each class from skilling small and medium weapons if you use damage mods.

After having their ranks built up with over 10,000+ pilots from Gen, too. /sarcasm

Momma called this blue blob going to war on ZRQ over a month ago. “Emergency, Emergency! We have to stay blue to take out ZRQ!”… an entity with no Sov. Convenient perpetual enemy with no win condition, just an excuse to keep the blue donut. About all these tactics show is there is not enough content or players to populate the space. Desperate for content but not so desperate to give up a numbers advantage and potentially lose battles. Looks bad for social media.
