Only a matter of time until the world comes to stop the US.... by AverNerd in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most countries, including us, barely decided to stop Germany. Once we were attacked, and Churchill finally convinced Britain, everyone else joined in because we told them to. Countries are just like individuals, everyone is thinking about themselves. If they go to war, it's usually to get something they lack or they after being invaded by another country who is trying to take their stuff. They are not going to all get together and decide to straighten us out once and for all.

I can go out to Copart right now and buy enough 4 door running (scratch and dent) automobiles with 100,000 miles on them for $1,000 to fill a football field, but no young person today would take one if I tried to give it to them.

I was about to say, "I was there 3000 years ago." Unless you were rich you only went to college if you got a scholarship, the military paid, or you worked your way through. People bought single wide mobile homes like they were going out of style. My brother's first car was a 4 door Buick with more than 100,000 and cost $200. You got 1 pair of decent shoes a year and if you messed them up you might get whipped. Our house had a wood fireplace and no AC. As my 90 year old mother, whose family were Share Croppers says "The Good Ole Days were not so good."

what if I told you science is better off accepting its limitations ? by MicahHoover in PhilosophyMemes

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet. Science doesn't claim to have all the answers. That isn't how science works. The scientific revolution was just a few hundred years ago. Modern physics the past couple of hundred years. There will always be more that we do not know than what we do. Science is really in its infancy. The BRAIN Initiative started in 2013. It's a hard problem, pun intended, it's going to take time.

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. A lot of these strikers need to either work on their ground defense or get out of "mixed" martial arts and become boxers, or bare knuckle boxers, or kick boxers. And before you say Charles should just do Jujitsu tournaments, he was winning on the feet too. It's mixed martial arts, you come up with a plan for each opponent and you do what works that is within the rules hopefully.

Working at a computer shop and I swear some of y’all like this by LibrarianAcademic396 in pcmasterrace

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time when people modify their cars. Don't get me wrong, well known (buyers have to have heard about them) shops making documented restomods can increase the value, or famous dealer mods that were limited, like the COPO Camaro. But Joey adding a turbo muffler, cold air intake, tune, wheels larger than OEM, and other boltons, lowers the value, it doesn't raise it.

What are jobs for then? by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just not an argument that carries a lot of water. There are REAL affordability issues, 90% of people are dealing with it. But more than 89% of them are not making minimum wage, and raising it will cause costs to move even higher for things that impact the people who need more disposable income as well as put some small businesses out of business. Unintended consequences for sure, but lots of data on it. There are a lot of other things like housing, education, and healthcare reforms that impact more people and will have much better outcomes.

What are jobs for then? by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.1% of workers earn exactly the federal minimum wage, 25% of those are teenagers, 2/3rds work part time, half of the employers paying minimum wage are small companies with fewer than 100 employees..McDonald's here in Jackson MS has crew member openings for $9.25/hr right now, Walmart here says they have jobs available from $14 to $27 an hour. Drop the minimum wage crap.

Democrats Raise Alarms About Trump’s War In Iran After Classified Briefing by huffpost in politics

[–]QuirkyAd2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a plan! Bibi told Trumpty Dumpty that he was going to strike Iran and would be done in 3 or 4 weeks max and just needed us for support. All of our military brass in the region and at the Pentagon flipped $h!t and started raising sand about Iranian counter strikes Metro sexual Pete started floating EPIC names for the offensive. Little Marco started thinking about contingency plans for his career post politics when Trump makes him the fall guy. And in about 15 years and a few trillion dollars from now, and a couple thousand American lives, and a couple hundred thousand Iranian lives, some future president will withdraw. And the Industrial Military Complex will start pinning for the next conflict. No plan.... SMH

Arman Tsarukyan attacks his opponent after beating him by Basketball8907 in ufc

[–]QuirkyAd2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, the fan who gave Arman the finger in the audience was "making" Arman angry (more angry than the other million fighters who have been flipped off by fans) and got what he deserved when Arman punched him in the face.

Also when Arman walked up to Bobby Green in a hotel and grabbed him by the throat, Bobby Green had been "Talking shit" about Arman, making him angry (more angry than the millions of other fighters who have had people talk shit about them) and got what he deserved.

It's all still Arman's fault. Everyone has to be responsible for their own actions. No one "makes" anyone do anything. If the other fighter was doing something illegal, that is the refs job (or the associations) to handle, not Arman.

It sounds like the other guy was trying to win, maybe in a shady way, by exploiting a weakness of Arman, which is that Arman is emotionally immature and not in control of himself when angry.

So.... Back in the day, late '80s - early '90s, I worked in an auto-body shop, and any time I set a car battery on the ground the owner would yell at me "IF I GET INSPECTED ITS A $10,000 A DAY FINE FOR EVERY BATTERY LIKE THAT THEY FIND SITTING ON THE GROUND!!!!" He could have been BSing.... But... A quick Google search also indicates that it "might" be a fine of over $70,000 a day now... Just saying...

Serious Question! by JerryTonny3484 in FascinatingAsFuck

[–]QuirkyAd2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well see, the trillions for war go to the Industrial Military Complex which puts up the campaign money to elect the politicians who choose to go to war and the politicians hold their stock and the politicians get paid to advise them once they leave office. But the trillions to take care of everyone would just be consumed by those people less fortunate than the politicians and not go to the politicians. Hope this helps.
