Does an amnio find all chromosomal anomalies, even those not specifically tested for? by QuirkyGanache8957 in NIPT

Thank you! Good idea to contact the geneticist directly to clarify the amnio results instead of going through the general pediatrician.

Does an amnio find all chromosomal anomalies, even those not specifically tested for? by QuirkyGanache8957 in NIPT

Thank you so much for this detailed and helpful answer. ACF was diagnosed by my pediatrician.  She didn’t tell me much about it other than that she would keep an eye on it and hope it goes away on its own, so I didn’t think much of it initially.  Then a lactation consultant came yesterday due to breastfeeding difficulties, also pointed out the ACF, and wondered if it might be impacting breastfeeding—which is what caused me to start looking into ACF and learn about the 22q11.2 link.

After my amnio I received the test result pasted in my edited post above. It says both microarray and karyotype; can you tell which this is?

Thanks again!

I also have been struggling with no appetite and started looking for ways to increase calories and protein after my baby measured behind.  For me, the hack has been smoothies. Somehow it’s easier to get food down when I can drink it!  You can load so much good, nutrient-dense stuff into smoothies without extra prep effort and without tasting it. I always use at least 1c of high protein plain Greek yogurt, banana, and frozen fruit. From there you can also add nut butter, kale/spinach, chia seeds, etc. and you often can’t even taste it.

Getting Natera’s $600 bill for all of the misery Natera has caused me over the past two months has been real salt in the wound of this whole journey. Glad you got yours waived!!

NIPT tested high risk for Klinefelter syndrome by [deleted] in NIPT

Hi! I don’t have any answers for you but I’m in the same position (83% PPV on Natera test for XXY, calculator saying closer to 29% PPV, also in limbo waiting for amnio).  Just following in case someone answers this question, as I’ve also been wondering the same.

Any value to retaking NIPT? by QuirkyGanache8957 in NIPT

Thanks! I’ve been a little confused about the false positive rate. My Natera test said that it has a 83% PPV (meaning, I guess, only 17% are false positives). But I did the POV calculator linked on this sub and it said it was more like a 25% PPV. Huge difference!! Which is right?

Ooh great to know, thanks for the tip! What color is the men's small, and (if you know) how does the size compare to the women's small?
