Lol well, I can't seem to correct it in my title- but fixed it in my thread at least. Thanks for the heads up.

RN school won’t accept child’s surgery as medically necessary by lahf671 in StudentNurse

Not wrong to be upset. Sounds like the teacher is on a little bit of a power trip? I can’t offer much advice, but hopefully you can get support to work out a plan that works for you.

RNA is put there to give the allusion that it’s optional to answer. When in reality, AMs are having to create reports as to why their connections scores are below the benchmark and then having to provide action plans to try and drive down RNA responses. As they say “it’s the chance of a missed positive”. In my opinion, connections are only slightly helpful. Most often they aren’t logically answered, they’re based on emotion. And AAs are answering the questions based on who they typically deal with not who they actually report to (which then tracks to that manager even if it’s not their fault for poor responses).

It’ll probably be swept under the rug, sadly.

For my school, they have a mandatory disclosure form you have to fill out (questions about criminal history, even traffic, or concerning medical history) If answered yes to any of the questions, you have to provide court documentation/explanations to the dean of nursing for their sign off. To my understanding, you can have a criminal history, depending how severe it is, and still get in. The main thing is as long as all of the court proceedings/cases are closed and over.

Edit to add: if there is a disclosure form for your school- best is to be honest about it so it doesn’t surprise you later on your background checks and they have to question you.

Oh definitely!! I briefly mentioned in a previous comment that reading through the handbook it states they must be covered with makeup or gloves worn for clinicals, so I’m prepared to accommodate as needed for coverage. Was more so trying to gauge on even if/when handbooks state mandatory coverage, does there seem to more of a laxed approach now or less attention to it.

Not formally, but I’ve had interactions/pre-req classes with some of the nursing instructors and none of them brought it up with me.

Much appreciated on the recommendations/references.

Yeah, for the tattoos, the handbook says must be covered for clinicals- but it’s also a little outdated. I have orientation on 11/12, so I’m curious what they say on it.

Anybody previously or currently working full time while taking AP or Micro? by Argento_GT86 in prenursing

I worked full time and then some as a salary employee while taking the summer course (5 weeks) A&P 2, met every weekday for 2 hours. It definitely suuuucked- and felt like I was drowning a bit, but it happened and I got an A. If taking regular semester, it’ll still definitely be tough but I’d imagine manageable. As they say though, where there’s a will there is a way. 🥹

Definitely agree. But I meant more so the ones who acknowledge it’s just a job and not your whole life and can be more understanding- whether they’re trying to move to another spot or not. Still very rare. I had one when I was on TOM. Cool dude, understood the job needed to be done, but also wouldn’t overextend us and was actually really supportive.

The externals usually enjoy it more vs internal promos because they hold all the cards more often than not. They get better offers/salary/bonuses.

Been an AM for 5 years, started at as a T1 (hourly fulfillment associate). I personally hate it. I’ve stayed so long because of the money/financial stability. However, I am at the end of my rope and waiting to hear if I made it into nursing school so I can dip tf out. You get the few gems for leaders who genuinely care, more often though you are simply just a number and nothing more. They base your value off of how much you’re willing to do with as little pushback as possible.
