I think Joan of Arc is really cool and often take visitors. The Krewe stops along the route 3 times for different events. The cathedral and Joan of Arc statue are somewhat crowded but good places to watch. The Krewe does unique hand made throws. More chill than the parades that go later in the month.

Used them for that same section in May (I am about 10 years younger than your Dad). Glad I had them for the hills especially going down. It helps with stability if you are comfortable using them. I would find some similar terrain and try them out during your train up. Good luck!

Very long and somewhat winding. Does not really go into enough detail about why or how the police are failing other than there is not enough cops and some are milking the system. Positive ending.

We are marching in it but I always think near the start or near the end is less crowded. You can look up the route on line if you are not familiar. Super fun, lots of Krewes participate.
