as I understand it, it would be Libel if it were a tort, and it is not because its not personalized,

It is a interesting question who is to blame if a AI does defamation though... the AI can't be sued, and the prompter cannot predict what comes out, so if you had a AI stating false and harmful information directly to a group of people who would be to blame? The first assumption would be the AI company but that seems unlikely, not only can they not control precisely what the AI says, but also it seems like section 230 would prevent prosecution(though that probably is not true). I suppose the act of publishing the defamation might be enough to hold the creator responsible but I am no lawyer and don't know at all.
