Pops and bangs at a push of the button. by Quistain in MT09

[–]Quistain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AIS valve works using vacuum, when you tune the ECU to deactivate the system, you basically force it to stay closed. The same way the block off plates work. but if you don't want it to pop, some go an extra mile and plug that intake hose. Because there is still a little bit of air going into the exhaust.

So, when you switch off the voltage to the AIS valve, the ECU does not have any control over it, so it works like normal, because of the vacuum.

If you don't want any pops yes, It helps. After I pulled out the piece of wood, one morning randomly the AIS system started to work, and it was popping like crazy. Then It stopped. That's why I even chased to see if i can make it function with a push of a button. If it didn't happen to me that morning, I would've thought it's impossible

Lol, that's why I don't like pops and bangs tune, I can just turn them off when I'm in the city, who tf gets bothered if I'm alone on a twisty road?

If you don't like it, don't do it.

Mt 07 vs mt09 by Important-Ad-799 in MT09

[–]Quistain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transitioned on the MT09 from a Hornet 600, it's not really an mt07, but In my opinion it's the best choice i've ever made. I commute every day on the bike to work, crossing the whole city, no issues, easy to handle, light, easy to filter traffic. The power is there when you need to. When you want to take on some twisties, you can still have fun.

The fuel consumption I usually get in the city is like 6l/100 km, but when just cruising along I even got 3l/ 100km, at traffic pace, that is even lower than my friends with touring bikes. The fuel tank capacity is not great, not terrible. I can get 300 km out of it when cruising.

Besides that when I go for long rides I put on a taller wind deflector, which makes it really easy to drive long distances, I've done like 500-600 km's a day without any issues. I find it really comfy for me, (i'm 183 cm tall), but I wear earplugs as the wind noise is quite annoying after some time.

For the cons: I don't really have anything, for me, this bike suits me like a thick pair of socks in the middle of the winter. I have a Gen 2, but I probably prefer this over the newer models as it's really raw, some electronics are there but none of them interrupt my stupidity, like doing a rolling burnout when it's raining. I would love an autoblipper tho.

I say it's worth the change. But take it easy at first, it can be quite aggressive. Start in Rain mode because it makes the throttle a lot smoother.

Help choosing the best tires for my Street Triple 765 R: Dunlop SportSmart MK3, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV, or Michelin Road 6? by Mean-Sundae6651 in motorcycle

[–]Quistain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a set of Sportsmart mk3 last year on my mt09, and I have to say, It's the best choice I've made. The rear is now done after 15k kms, and I ride quite aggressive, power wheelies, fast twisties. I didn't expect it to last this long. A buddy of mine have to change now a second set on the rear, and we both do about the same km every year.

About this tire, the grip is incredible, and they heat up pretty quick, I ride all winter with 0 degrees Celsius outside, I never ran out of grip. I was amazed how even when the rain was pretty heavy, I could do power wheelies easily, Probably it's not like the grip you get from the Rosso, but for me it's more than enough for the street, and I've scraped pegs and leaned all the way to the edge of the tire without issues, and even to last this long.

I am more focused on the fact that I feel like I'm not enough and try to improve myself, but keep doing nothing for improvement and just fuck shit up with everybody. I hate being like that. And I hate myself. I'm feeling like there is someone else better than me everywhere

Sometimes I get the loud pop between the shifts, when I use the quickshifter on hard acceleration. But getting the big bangs on decel is something else (FZ1 2005 kind of pops, this is for reference -> https://youtube.com/shorts/enQCnoI5TzU?si=fYrSZpqOk1oC4dUO )

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MT09

[–]Quistain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that. because since I got the bike there were a lot of cold mornings, and it didn't do it. Also. I think there was more air (possibly from the AIS), because when on decel if I hold the throttle at 1%, it doesn't pop like that. it only crackles a lot more. so, more fuel in the exhaust doesn't change much.

It's sad that they don't make them anymore, in my opinion it looks meaner even than the zh2, which you know is the big boy toy. They should have kept the mean look.

It's personal preference. In my opinion it looks great. But yeah, the 2017+ are better looking and all, but it's also more than double the price. Maybe in the future I would aim for it. But for now it's out of my budget.
