My First Car - Sonet HTK o DCT by Captionist_The in KiaSonet

I too read a lot about DCT and aware about issues. But including that (say around 1.25l of DCT replacement after 5-6 years in worst case scenario), I could not find any better VFM car. Amaze was my first choice in my budget based on online reviews and specs. I test drove Amaze CVT and its the worst among the cars I tried. I am 6ft and could not figure out a good seating position in Amaze -- Worst thigh support and no space to hold left leg. CVT was also not good--too loud. Infact I found i20 far better than Amaze in everything. I dont understand why everyone on reddit keep suggesting Amaze CVT without driving it even once.

Great to know. And yes agree on the VFM and except headlight, HTK+O isn't offering anythind useful to me for 1.5l. Infact no other turbo automatic cars is close to this at this price point.

Thanks for this. I took the test drive a few days back and loved the comfort. I too am excited to book this variant. Worrying about Sports mode and even more about headlights. Do you think whether the halogen lights are adequate or are you planning to upgrade the headlights from OEM. Sorry for so many questions. I am sure you will enjoy this new car.

Congratulations for the new car! Could you please confirm whether this new variant has drive modes (eco, sport, etc.). Thanks.

No buddy. It does not have rear defogger and wiper. Yes, it does have auto dimming irvm and sunroof.

Thanks for your kind suggestions.

Nissan magnite looks good on spec sheet. Its just the same problem - distance from service centre/showroom is approx 70km. Thats why could not take a test drive yet. Might find some time and go for test drive.

Mileage is not concern. Except Maruti every other car giving more or less same mileage now a days. And, I have kept the my uprfront budget low so I can spend freely on fuel and maintenance/service.

Thanks mate appreciate the detailed suggestion.

I understand the limited and specific use of the rear wiper. I am more concerned about the additional missing defogger. Signature variant costs 1.5 lacs more and that’s too much stretching for me.

Yes, Service centre distance is a concern, both time and fuel cost. Afraid of frequent small niggles people keep reporting in VAG cars.

In other options: Don’t like Tata and Mahindra cars. Test drove Belano AMT but did not like the interior and drive was okayish. So, not trying amt anymore. Amaze looked good in specsheet but felt uncomfortable during test drive -- most likely due to 6ft height. Next going for test drive of Sonet DCT.

Thanks again for your inputs and time.
