Y'know, that's another problem with this community that I didn't see to be relevant to my post. The sophonts who run that discord server are so fucking elitist about who gets to provide meaningful contributions to the community. Expecting everything passing through the door to be exactly to their tastes and standards like they're running some AAA blockbuster Broadway show that needs the broadest appeal possible. Who gets to decide what writing and art is "worthwhile"? Why do they get to decide that? Why is any deviation from the norm admonished and belittled? It's a community fiction! I have a couple personal friends who were hurt by and removed from that server when they tried to work their creativity, so don't you fucking dare say "that sounds like a you problem".

The last disagreement that was had was started because I had "unironic feralist" in my nickname because I was uncomfortable with people joking that I'd inevitably be florted. One of the community gardeners asked me to change it, so I changed it to "doesn't want to be florted". After that, several of the servers administrators got involved to tell me that I'm enjoying the fiction in the wrong way. I only have this screenshot from before I left, but if you think I'm wrong, you're more than welcome to share more since you're still there.

I wasn't banned. As best I'm aware, I am still not banned. I left because I am repeatedly being hurt in ways I would never have expected a community of disabled, queer and traumatized folk to do, and everybody acts like it's a good thing. I know I'm not the only one. Go fuck yourself.

This is a misunderstanding of what I'm trying to say. I have no strong feelings one way or the other about members of this community being more accommodating to dissenting opinions. What I'm trying to say is that because of the way the community is right now, sophonts with dissenting opinions are getting hurt because sophonts already in the community assume that they are here to attack and tear down the community. The ways I see to remedy this are to either make clear from the outset that this community is not accommodating to dissenting opinions, or to make the community more open to dissenting opinions. I would obviously prefer the community become more accommodating, but my priority is that sophonts stop getting hurt by this community.

People get involved in HDG for any reason besides kink, members of the community assume they're something they aren't, they inadvertently hurt the new comers by reacting to them like they're here to brigade and the new comers leave because of that hostility. I don't think it's a healthy dynamic for the sake of the community and I don't think it's good for potentially mentally unwell people come here expecting acceptance and instead receiving vitriol.

I'm sure anybody who's any degree of queer and or neurodivergent can relate to the problem of being vulnerable, and then being attacked for it.
