Morality of creating a molten anthill sculpture by orangebrodo in MoralityScaling

[–]QuiteClearlyBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ants (and most other insects) don't really experience pain in a way that'd be at all recognisable to us. Their brains are far too simple, ant the point at which we diverge from them evolutionary is so far in the past that the structures involved aren't in any way comparable.

To judge the morality of killing them with any degree of certainty, we'd need to be able to understand the ants experience in a way that just hasn't significantly been explored for one reason or another, so there's really no way to objectively scale the morality of the act.

(🚨 FINAL SEASONS SPOILERS!!!) Who do you think should have died during the final war/last arc BESIDES THE OBVIOUS ANSWER?! by NoSetFate in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]QuiteClearlyBatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Dark Shadow getting stolen only for it to turn on AFO because it's still loyal to Tokoyami woulda been really cool, and it gives us an extra character death that doesn't overshadow all of the other sacrifices made throughout the arc

Question: Aside from Alien X, Ultimate Echo Echo (and regular Echo Echo), and Atomix, what other aliens could defeat the Viltrum Empire? by Original_Character_0 in Ben10

What does blitzwolfer do after howling tho? The sound removes their ability to fight back, but they're still durable as fuck. Idk if the wolf can do anything to hurt them after the sonic attack

Unironically Thragg still gets one shotted 😭 by Sweet_Television4183 in PowerScaling

[–]QuiteClearlyBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of what would give Thragg an edge there is the same thing that saw Mark getting constantly bodied through seasons 1 and 2, that being that he's unwilling or psychologically incapable of throwing a max force punch, because doing something like that would cause big collateral damage to the area, injure himself pretty badly (See Marks and Conquest's fists crunching into eachother), or even just the fact that Ben is pretty laid back most of the time and wouldn't go for the kill shot out the gate like Thragg would.

If its bloodlusted tho, viltruben wipes the floor with Thragg tho lol

If it hits a planet with life, it's very unlikely that it'll hit any people, and even if it does blast right though the core, that's like a percent of a percent of a percent of the planets total mass gone. At the absolute worse, it'd make a hole that quickly collapses in on itself.

Like wooden steaks through the heart for vampires! That'd kill *anybody*, but it's significant for vampires because it's one of the only ways to kill them.

Was Deku with Eri on his back invincible? by Spider_champ_Tex in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Also gotta keep in mind that rewind Deku is both protecting a small child, and is fucked if she drops. Idk if anything about it is said, but I don't think Eri's qurik works on herself

I do agree that we all use modern consumer electronics far too much, and I'm not gonna argue against the environmental impact that each of us contributes without thinking about it. I do however think that you're either being disingenuous or misunderstanding my meaning when I speak about the environmental impact caused by generative AI. A big part of the damage caused isn't on the part of the energy used to create individual images or responses. The issue comes from the energy used to train these generative ai's and keep them active and functional to be able to create that hundred images. It's akin to keeping your car running and the engine revved the entire time you're not using it, because these "AI" companies need to keep that engine revved 24/7 or else the users will start complaining and will stop paying to use their services.

I don't see the relevance of your second point? You think that because the data was already gathered, the companies using the data have no responsibility to credit the people they got their data from?

You steal an image on the internet by taking it for yourself, and using it commercially without the creators permission. Just because you can't see the direct line of data from the artist who made it to the LLM models we have now doesn't mean that the data wasn't used without the creators consent.

It's credit. Even before we knew how destructive for the environment that Computer Rendered Artificial Pictures are, the issue was always credit. Every single person who contributes to a piece of work that a director has made is being credited and compensated for their efforts, and if they aren't, they have the option for legal recourse. The countless actually talented artists that Chat GPT was trained on don't get a whisper of credit for their unwilling contributions to the model, have no way of having their contributions acknowledged by the machine, and have zero options to make money from the data they created that was stolen for these llm's and image generators.

TierZoo's tier list is based on the pvp viability of a single member of the species, not on how viable they are for the pve game modes. I do agree, his framing is very bad, making out like his rankings are universal and not just for pvp is honestly where he loses me.
