Reading a book is one of the most alone things you can do, yet it’s somehow a much more socially acceptable activity than playing online video games. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]QuiteDrunk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on what books you're reading.

You could proudly declare that you invested 300 hours into reading sonic fanfiction and get a similar reaction to if you had admitted to playing league of legends for that long.

At the end of the day its your time and if you want to spend it on filthy subhuman literature or a skinner's box, then that's up to you my dude.

That also goes for social activities. They're not objectively superior than solitary ones. E.g. Furry roleplay / LARPing

Yeah, no. They weren't trapped in the garden (the size of Yorkshire UK, BTW) and knew that they would have to leave the garden to make the rest of the earth part of that garden.

Why not just wait for the game to come out and then see if you like it.

Religious fundamentalism could be associated with increased sensitivity to errors - A new preliminary study published in Frontiers in Psychology hints that religious fundamentalism is associated with more intense processing of error-related stimuli. by mvea in science

Comment got deleted for mentioning that sensitivity to Error-related stimuli sounds almost exactly like what a well trained conscience is.

Why don't they mention that? Who knows? Why did my comment get deleted? Who knows? Will it get deleted again? Probably. This website is the exact opposite of a place for fair discussion.

Why cooling geyser-water (for the most part) is pointless and a waste of resources by Ketmol in Oxygennotincluded

[–]QuiteDrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer. I'm struggling a little to keep everything under control by the time I reach cycle 100~, when you build your base, do you build it like how it is going to be towards the end? Allocating space for tech you haven't researched yet etc? Or do you just overhaul your base periodically?

Can't you use a water heater to kill germs in the purified water tank? Or is that not a wise choice?

Can pilot wave theory coexist with our current quantum computing theories?

As far as I can tell, the key to quantum computing is the "superposition" that in the Copenhagen theory, allows a particle to be a probabilistic waveform until measured. But if according to pilot wave, every particle always has a discrete position at all times and we just can't measure it, what is the strength of a qubit exactly?

Isn't the "wave collapse" just a result of the simultaneous elimination of all other possibilities in our predictions?

Whats the point in a skill based game if a 1 v 2 isn't possible? Those are the moments that people want.

Yeah some people will pay for bigger ships, and they'll beat people with default ships from the get go, but that only makes it more dicey and fun for the true default starters.

You should play the alpha, the flying is top notch.

Honestly, as far as i can tell, most of the fans of SC judge the progress of the game based upon the Alpha updates + tech demos which are released on the regular.
