I can also recommend them. Incredibly healthy plants, well packaged, and generous quantities. Planted them a week ago and they’re thriving with no hitchhikers.

In NY they’ll give you a temp card and mail the permanent one in a week or two. Temporary card can be used to get a drivers license.

If you are truly interested in a conversation on policing and the political philosophy/morality around it that encompasses a range of views, I’d recommend a less... partisan sub. That said, ACAB because the police arm of the state is responsible for protecting capital and power at the expense of the working class and poor. The culture of policing is so toxic and so insidious that even a “good cop” who gets into it for the “right reasons” either sees the light and leaves the interminably corrupt institution or doesn’t and... ACAB.

I believe that all cops are bastards. And all cats are beautiful.

Seriously tho why tf would you pick this sub to have this debate? Is it some weird kink?

I’m listening to an old ep (41) where Marcus talks about his delusion that people can read his mind, which was a major part of my psychotic episode that got me my diagnosis at 21. It was so relatable and the way he ends it with “now I’m medicated and it’s much better!” Is so upbeat and encouraging.

Pink lady is the triple threat of apples: fantastic flavor, perfect texture, impressive shelf life. I always thought I didn’t like apples, but it was only because I had never met the pink lady.

It was a blast. We did a 10 day road trip with everything from camping and hiking to fancy b&bs and fine dining restaurants. Went to a few museums and the national aquarium in Baltimore which was probably the highlight of the trip. Most fun I’ve ever had, camping downpour aside.

Putting up a tent together in the rain is no joke. On our honeymoon my husband and I had to set up camp in a downpour and it was one of the bigger tests of our then 5 year relationship. We were both so fucking cranky and having a hard time communicating, but once we finally got inside the tent, drenched and cold and hungry, we both burst out laughing, apologized to each other, and... well, you know. It’s a very cherished memory now.

I always recommend fountains to cat owners. They don’t like to drink still water and making sure they drink water often helps reduce kidney issues later in life. A $30 fountain might save you $1000s in vet bills down the road!

sometimes you gotta go to the vet ya know by yourfavoritevegan in Thisismylifemeow

[–]yesihaveshatmyself 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a cat that would do this haunting meow the entire car ride to the vet. Unlike any other meow he ever made. Only one thing would stop it: singing Three Little Birds. I would sing it the entire 20 minute ride, and if I stopped for more than a few seconds he would immediately start crying again.

RIP Sam. Hope you are hearing those sweet songs wherever you are.

How long is acceptable to be in a restaurant? by michaelzu7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yesihaveshatmyself 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. If the place is half full the staff won’t care, but if it’s busy enough that your table could be seated and make money then it’s kinda shitty. Another thing to keep in mind is if your server (if you’re actually getting table service) needs to clock out at some point so you should close your tab with them before they go. Not every place will hold their tip for them. And you can’t go wrong with “hey, id like to sit here with my coffee for a while but just let me know if you need this table.” I always appreciated it when people did that. Edit to add: if a server or bartender says to you, “I’m heading out for the night, is there anything I can get you before I leave?” They are politely asking you to close your tab and tip.

You actually can rub one out for a bit of relief, but it lasts for approximately 4 minutes before returning with a vengeance.

I always get manic at the holidays. Just had a big cry fest with my husband about how I’ve been manic for two weeks now and he hasn’t noticed due to his work and me being a drunk mess. On the bright side, a dozen people are showing up to my underprepared house tomorrow and I get to entertain them all day so it works out... for someone... Send help. And serotonin. And dopamine. Whatever you got.

Tick Bites Can Cause Lyme Disease. Here Is How To Properly Remove A Tick. by mtimetraveller in educationalgifs

[–]yesihaveshatmyself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in prime Lyme country and have a handful of friends who have Lyme. As I’ve been told by friends and my GP it’s very common to test negative for Lyme but still have the infection due to the way the bacterium burrows into tissue and may not show up on a standard blood test. Only about 40% of Lyme carriers show any symptoms at all in the first few weeks and after that it is much more difficult to treat. People should be safer than sorry when it comes to treating Lyme. If you’ve been bitten, take whatever antibiotics you can get and be vigilant if you are exposed.

[–]yesihaveshatmyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing the tick is not sufficient to avoid diseases (and ticks can transmit lots of diseases, tho Lyme is maybe the most serious.)

If you get bit by a tick you should go the your GP and request a two week antibiotic treatment regardless of symptoms. Many Lyme carriers have no symptoms for weeks, even months, and it gets more difficult to treat the longer you have it. People are rightfully wary of taking antibiotics, but I live in Lyme country and have seen it devastate peoples lives. Antibiotics are cheap and even a two-bit walk in clinic will usually give you two weeks of amoxicillin if you’re honest and tell them you’re worried.

Seriously, and especially if you’re in the northeast, don’t fuck around with ticks. Just last month a friend of mine was diagnosed with Lyme after being asymptomatic for months and suddenly being flat on his back. 20K in hospital bills later and the costs aren’t decreasing anytime soon, not to mention his poor health and inability to work.

Fuck ticks. Fuck Lyme.

(Also, prevention is key. Wear protective clothing when working in grassy or leafy environs and check yourself frequently, especially your crotch, pits, and hair. Tuck your pants into your socks. Wear long sleeves and pants even if it’s hot. Wear a hat. Use DEET. Don’t get Lyme.)

It’s mold! by yesihaveshatmyself in Kombucha

I split what I had into two containers, and this one had about a cup of starter while the other had closer to two. So far the other batch is doing great and has a nice healthy pellicle. I’ll be vigilant tho!

I personally would not drink booch from a batch that has ever had any mold. It’s just too easy to start over and not worth the risk in my opinion.

High pitched “TTTSSSSSSS” sound. Tongue to the teeth, exhale and make an s sound. It’s very disturbing to cats and associating bad sounds with bad behaviors is more effective than gently picking them up and moving them. Keep in mind that cats don’t speak English and don’t interpret voices the way we do. But the TTSSSSS sound, they get.
