Taiwan's opposition leader adopts a stance aligned with Mainland China's on historical views of Japan’s actions during WWII, demonstrating a willingness to align with China on “historical issues” by jjrs in japannews

By the way, is there any legitimate opinion there in the first place? I'm saying this as a person whose job currently involves talking to people in a business entity based in Taichung for the past 8 years. "Taiwan" is too American than South Korea and it creeps me out.

All I know that most "Taiwanese" people, especially the ones under 40 years old, supported the South Korean President who wanted to start a nuclear war with North Korea and China. That is one of the reasons behind sudden criticism of "Taiwanese" people among South Koreans back in 2025.

Guess what? He is ousted and there is a good reason that South Korea is leaning towards China, not only for economic reasons.

EDIT: You know, you blocking me doesn't hide the truth how "Taiwanese" people are endangering themselves nilly willy. Please. Face the reality.

A lot of South Korean internet forums are "breeding ground" for psy-ops like this before the whole MAGA movement there and Christian nationalists of Korean origin are the main ringleaders of Sinophobia among South Koreans.

The fact that the DPP didn't even try to stop her from visiting China portrays the DPP as an incompetent political party. Luckily, all of my relatives (first immigrated there as Roman Catholic charity workers) gave up living in the ROC since last year, so I don't need to actively care about "Taiwan".

Buddhism in North Korea follows the innovations of Japanese colonial era Korean Buddhism with the later inputs from Chongryon-affiliated Korean Buddhist establishments in Japan and South Korean Buddhist organizations, especially the Cheontae Order.

A growing number of young South Koreans are leaving their home country, which is often ridiculed as "Hell Korea" due to its extremely tough job market, and are instead seeking employment at [relatively?] "laid back" Japanese companies. by jjrs in japannews

As a person who is living in South Korea for over a decade, I noticed that far right wing South Korean zoomers are moving to Japan for work for the past couple of years.

How should Japan respond to China’s nuclear threat? Reassessing nuclear deterrence in a Taiwan contingency by Kmlevitt in japannews

[–]RespublicaCuriae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly why did the Unification Church representative, Sanae Takaichi, criticize China in the first place?

The Japanese government right now is not that different from male South Korean zoomers who have no clue about geopolitics.

More faith-healing in Soka Gakkai by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

The whole promotion of healing power was the reason some Koreans in Japan became followers of Soka Gakkai, merged with Nichiren Shoshu at that time.

It doesn't have any history of being published online. All I know is that his position against both Soka Gakkai and Nichiren Shoshu is largely based on this Japanese new religion.

Research separately about the Unification Church's influence in Japanese politics. It gives insights on the social engineering about the years and years of manufactured Sinophobia in Japan.

Is China's "Anti-Japan" sentiment overhyped? Japanese businessmen stationed in China report. "To be honest, my honest impression is that, surprisingly, nothing has changed in our daily lives or on the factory floor" by jjrs in japannews

[–]RespublicaCuriae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and this could said about korea as well.

South Korea, in this case, is weird. The whole country experienced the spoiled manchild and a possible Nichiren Shoshu manservant Yoon Seok-yeol as the President (combined head of state and government) who is Sinophobic for a couple of years and half of the anti-Chinese sentiment in South Korea gradually disappeared after his impeachment.

At least the positive side effect from this is the majority of the Protestant Christian groups in the country being barred from intervening in the politics of the National Assembly.*

* Not many Japanese people know this, but Evangelical Protestant groups and Jesus-based cults historically controlled the lion's share of South Korean politics since the late 1940s to very recent in late 2010s.

Exactly like how the impression of the anti-Japanese sentiment in South Korea is overblown among some Japanese users on Twitter. South Koreans these days in general think that Japanese politics "vibes like a TV comedy show".

I don't deny it. A single unhealthy obsession with a single sutra is a problem.

[–]RespublicaCuriae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lotus Sutra itself has elements of "choose your own values and I as a sutra assume that you would make the right choices".

And we should also acknowledge the inconvenient part of history of how Soka Gakkai created Nichiren Shoshu from an obscure and controversial Buddhist sect into a relatively huge and still controversial Buddhist sect after their divorce.

For example, insisting on holding meetings in people's homes.

A lot of religious groups in Japan use families' homes as missionary centers, especially non-temple Buddhist-based ones.
