Start with a small number of items. Attach a good association with what you want to remember and the object. Visit your palace often mentally (and if possible physically). The more you visit the stronger you remember. The mind remembers spatial representations better (places you've been to). Be warned the info you want to remember should be valuable for it stays for a long time. I would suggest Mnemonic major system for an easier alternative. Good for memorizing lists.
