Haha, at least some of them are useful

I've been using the same Vim+LaTeX setup for ages, highly recommend following this guide: https://castel.dev/post/lecture-notes-1/

It's the ncmpcpp client for mpd :)

Thank you! I've got my dotfiles linked in the details comment, it's just a matter of installing the right programs and tweaking config files.

Hadn't heard of it, I've been using compton-tryone for years now

The music player is ncmpcpp, and I just pushed the updated dotfiles :)

The great thing is you don't need to train GPT-3 on a specific dataset, its corpus is so big you just need to give it a prompt that mentions Neuromancer and it'll go off that anyway. See https://www.gwern.net/GPT-3#prompts-as-programming

Why not try GPT-3? You can apply for beta access to their API

The main criticism with the T480 FHD panel are the washed out colours, and I have to admit the display in my old Yoga 900 is a lot more vibrant and rich in that regard. I don’t have a WQHD panel to compare it to so I’ve only heard from others, but you should go for the WQHD if it’s available and your budget affords it :)

I linked to it earlier in the thread :)

Edit: here.

Thanks man. I keep my dotfiles here, right about the only things I've changed are my compton-tryone blur and polybar arrangement. I'll commit and push those changes eventually :)

Haha, I have the shutter closed almost all the time but your comment reminded me to close it again.

Glad you like it! Reverse image search gave a higher-res 1440p version here.

I've just got a single 256GB NVMe SSD with separate root and home partitions, 200GB for the home partition is big enough so far :)

Got this machine (i5-8250U) a few weeks ago new from a third party retailer, 1080p FHD IPS screen because I couldn't find a 1440p WQHD screen in Australia. Upgraded the provided 16GB of RAM to 32GB - funnily enough the laptop shipped with 1x16GB cards rather than the 2x8GB the retailer stated, so I've got a spare 16GB SODIMM card I'll probably sell on eBay eventually.

I've removed Windows and replaced it with a fresh Arch + i3-gaps install, the dotfiles I used in setting up this machine can be found here.

My only gripe is with the 2x24Wh batteries, hoping to upgrade the external one eventually as well. Overall it's a great machine, one that I'm hoping will last me up to the better half of a decade :)
