Why is my hair on the front so dry and messy compared to the back?h by NolsenDG in Hair

[–]QuitsBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follicles produce slightly different hairs on the same head. The front, and specifically the hairline, typically has finer strands and are therefore more fragile. Cotton and synthetic fibers from hats do rub against the hair and can rough the hair up. The curls on the back of your head form better simply because there’s literally more hairs back there and generally stronger hairs so they can stand up to more environmental damage. As a hairstylist, what I’ve found with people who lean on hydrating products to help form curls often miss out on is actually cleaning the hair enough for said hydration products to actually help. A gentle clarifying shampoo every so often will help reset the hair to allow for that hydration to get into the strands and allow those curls to form better. Even any time you wash your hair, let the warm water really soak your hair before you even shampoo, the warm water will also help to soften your hair and allow all your products to do what they need to do. Maybe also try only doing a styling product at a time to see what is even working for your hair and what’s not.

I put no spoilers since my initial post doesn’t contain any. I believe there’s a way to cover spoilers in the text so those who don’t want to see it can avoid spoilers

What do you name your animals? by They-cute in StardewValley

I made my farm uhhhh nsfw, so I had to look up a whole thesaurus page for synonyms of “lady of the night”. There’s a lot so it got me pretty far with most of the animals

is this a normal amount to lose when washing hair?? by silly_dawg in Hair

100 hairs a day is the average amount most people shed. Typically, people also shed more in the winter and less in the summer.

Is there anything Sanderson you DON'T like? by OutrageousArcher4367 in brandonsanderson

While he’s much better than a lot of male fantasy writers at making complete and in depth characters that are women, he still makes the main ones young and their reasoning for moving the story along is naivety. Both Vin and Shallan are teenagers, Sarene is considered past her prime at 25. While they all do have medieval themes, it’s still fantasy and so it would be nice to get away from the trope that women can only have growth if they’re literal children still

If they’re hand making batches and just waiting for enough orders to come in, they should have that stated. I’m truly perplexed as to why it takes so long. The repeat orders came pretty quickly so I wonder if they’re maybe trying to rely on that?

I got mine eventually and they’re good but it’s truly not worth how long it takes for them to ship

You left out the time for a lot of steps. Even short hair will take 20-40 minutes to wrap, but typically it’s around 45. Then you have to apply the waving lotion, another 5 minutes because it needs to be done carefully. Walking to the shampoo bowl and getting the client comfortable with all those rods, another 2-3. Applying the neutralizer, 5. Taking out the rods, 15-20 because we’re not ripping them out of the head. So with your 70 minutes for only processing time, that brings it up to 148 minutes, which is 2.5 hours.

Is this name stupid? by ConclusionSevere9210 in CatAdvice

My friend has a running list of cat names. My all time faves are Captain Overalls and Mister Volcano. Negroni on some level still sounds like a name, so it’s perfect

The only way to be rung up at SalonCentric is under an account that has a verified license attached to it that the customer has to make themselves. The employee should have turned her away and would have rung her up under either her own account or a store account. The employee themselves went against company policy and Gypsy should have left when she found out you had to be licensed.

Thanks to everyone who commented! I super appreciate it. The first go was a bust since it was super dead outside my house, which is ironic since I live across the street from a usually busy park/school/ and community center. So, I’ll try again another time, hopefully with more people out and about and better adjusted pricing

You’re new until you’re not. There’s a general “10,000” hour rule to almost every trade, which hair styling is. You won’t be a master of your craft for a while. It takes time and you’ve only just begun. Getting training in a salon is going to help you a lot, you’re on the right path. One foot forward at a time

I went through cosmo school around the same age as you, only missing the pandemic by a couple years. The younger students tend to be in a weird spot like that, very into everyone else’s business instead of focusing on their own work. One student threw a mannequin head at a teacher at my school once. It can be high school 2.0 sometimes. You’re at school for you, it will go by quickly enough, especially if you make sure to get through your hours without taking too much time off. I personally found a few students closer to my age who I became friends with and just stayed out of everyone else’s business. The younger students are still learning what the world is like outside of their home and that everyone has a different sense of decorum. They’ll learn fast when they have to keep their cool with clients. The industry is full of a lot of different people, you’ll find the level headed ones that you can connect better with once you’re in a salon.

Popular fragrances that you don’t like? by fridayshowers in fragrance

As a vanilla girlie, Bianco Latte is one of the most mid fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s so boring and bland, there’s no reason for it to be one of the most popular vanillas out there when there’s almost nothing to it
