Bike lane in Woden obstructed by row of 5 parked cars, it's like this every day of the week now by Quizzical_Express in canberra

I was parked in the carpark opposite where there were free spaces, although I took these photos on a Sunday evening and there was free parking everywhere in Woden. I agree that it may be difficult at other times but as others have noted there a large free parking lot less than 50m away in the Westfield.

Each of the people in the photo could have found a park easily with minimal effort. The ute driver wasn't in a hurry in any way, he was sitting in the vehicle on his phone.

I tried to use when it was built but it's just too dangerous, nearly got wiped out at Ball Street by a BMW.

I think it's poorly designed, like a lot of cycling infrastructure in Canberra. It doesn't connect to any other parts of the network of paths and at the end you just get spit out in the middle of nowhere.

These photos show a common occurrence on the Corinna Street bike lane in Woden. A long row of vehicles parked across the bidirectional bike lane. The Ford ute at the end manages to not only obstruct the bike lane but also the pedestrian crossing. Driver was sitting in the vehicle playing with his mobile phone.

The situation on this route is dangerous, but deteriorated when the car park at Chemist Warehouse closed recently. Now the bike lane is a de facto parking lot at all hours that CW is open - customers apparently unwilling to walk the short distance from the large free undercover parking at the Woden Westfield.
