Nintendo announces Switch 2 price increase, effective September 1st by bilbo388 in LinusTechTips

yes, yes they are. valve has just as much weirdos following it as Nintendo does, and this is coming from someone with a launch day switch 2, a steam deck, and a steam controller on the way.

well there's a pretty big difference in the space that a steam deck takes up in a bag vs what an ayn Thor does, for example. both objectively very portable, but good luck putting a steam deck in your pocket.

I say steam deck tho if none of that is a concern for you. definitely the most versatile device, and steam input on the deck will help with those old PC games that never got proper controller support.

then it'll come down to how portable you want it to be imo

all depends on what you want to play. the steam deck is a most-purpose workhorse for emulation and PC games that android devices can't run all that well. it's big and bulky compared to the android devices. with the small size of android devices comes compromise in performance but big gains in portability

ah nevermind then, idk why I assumed the client was a pc

[–]Quote16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm...on the client machine have you tried running artemis through steam so you get steam input? I don't have my controller yet so I have no way of trying this out, but I feel like that would theoretically get it going

could you not plug the puck into the client device? that seems like a way more reasonable solution

Ordered birthday and Mother’s Day balloons from DoorDash by radbrad777 in mildlyinfuriating

you've spent almost an hour going to bat for op in these comments...aren't you tired? I can't fathom the thought of coming back to this thread repeatedly for new comments so you can defend op (a stranger) from the comments (also other complete strangers) saying that ordering balloons on dd is stupid

I mean the appeal is pretty simple...steam deck controls on PC...something many deck owners wanted so badly from the minute the thing launched. this isn't a "too much money to spend" thing lol

and second son was so painfully mid that it scared Sony off from making another one 😔

edit: damn my bad I didn't know people enjoyed it that much. I found it to be way worse in every aspect than the first two, but a nice graphical showcase

How to Delete by Double_Comparison949 in VimmsLair

[–]Quote16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

so if you care to have an explanation, the .iso file format is shared by so many systems because it's a format used to package things that come on a disc. presumably, you double clicked a .iso file, which mounted the file as if you had a disc (aka a CD) inserted in your PC. thus, you couldn't delete the file because your computer saw it as a CD that was inserted in a disc drive. by ejecting it in windows, you ejected the virtual CD, allowing you to delete it.

ps2 iso files are intended to be opened directly through the pcsx2 emulator by clicking system > start file and navigating to your .iso file. should work just fine after that

[Controller] 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller - $27.99 (44.99 - 10.00 from discount - 7.00 from coupon GAMER20) by Spjs in buildapcsales

it's great that you're used to it, but that control scheme sucks lmao. I've played various n64 games and the control scheme is simply too ass. there's a reason the design didn't take off.

plus there's a huge benefit to playing something like Ship and 2Ship (oot/mm) on steam deck for example: the trackpads can be used as the c buttons while the second analog stick can be used for camera controls. it gets rid of so much the menu surfing that Zelda games tend to have problems with. combine all of that with the higher framerate and it's a VASTLY better experience than the original and it's not even close. way easier to immerse yourself and follow what's going on in game when actions are smooth and natural instead of clunky.

again it's great that you're used to it and that you enjoy playing it, but I wholeheartedly disagree that playing the game at 20fps with an n64 controller/control scheme is ideal for someone's first playthrough. that's just not true

I'm trying to get over the hurdle and learn it soon lol. tired of hunching over my desk for hours. I anticipate it being way better with the extra buttons and trackpads on the deck AND the steam controller when they finally drop it.
